Tier 1 infantry unit for the Exploration Age for those civilizations that don't have an infantry unique unit.

Courser

Movement: 3; Combat Strength: 40
Tier 1 cavalry unit for the Exploration Age.

Cog

Movement: 3; Combat Strength: 35; Range Strength: 30; Range: 1
Note: This is the basic tier 1 naval unit that any Antiquity naval units automatically upgrade to at the start of the Exploration Age.

   

Fleet Commander

Requires: Cartography; Movement: 3; Defense: 28
Note: The Fleet Commander works almost identically to the Army Commander, but is a distinct unit type.

Catapult

Movement: 2; Combat Strength: 25; Ranged Combat Strength: 20; Range: 2; Requires: Machinery
Tier 1 Exploration Siege Unit. High Bombard strength for attacking Fortified Districts.

Man-at-Arms

Movement: 2; Combat Strength: 40; Requires: Heraldry

Knight

Movement: 3; Combat Strength: 45; Requires: Metal Casting
Note: Tier 2 cavalry. And yes, the Shawnee cavalry seen below is a "Knight."

Crossbowman

Tier 2 Ranged

(Trebuchet)

Movement: 2; Ranged Strength: 25; Range: 2; Requires: Metallurgy
Tier 2 Siege unit; Increased bombard strength against fortified districts.

Pikeman

Movement: 2; Combat Strength: 45; Requires: Metal Casting
Tier 3 Exporation Age infantry.

Bombard

Requires: Gunpowder
Tier 3 siege unit. Increased bombard strength against fortified districts.

Lancer

Requires: Metal Casting
Tier 3 cavalry.
Note: Even though the symbol for the unit is a lance, these are armed with matchlock pistons.

Arquebusier

Requires: Gunpowder
Tier 3 ranged unt.

Carrack

Movement: 3; Combat Strength: 41; Ranged Strength: 35; Range: 2; Requires: Shipbuilding

Treasure Fleet

Requires: Shipbuilding
Movement: 4; Defensive Strength: 27
Note: These units are spawned automatically from settlements that have improved a Treasure resource. Successfully transporting the treasure back to Homeland territory will earn Economic Legacy points. They can be intercepted and captured by other empires if not protected. According to Ed Beach, this is the only unit in the game that can be captured.

Galleon

Note: Tier 3 naval unit.

Noyan

Mongol Unique Army Commander. Has increased Movement. Cavalry Units in its Command Radius have increased Flanking.

Tercio

Movement: 2; Combat Strength: 37;
Spanish Unique Tier 1 Infantry Unit. Adjacent Units receive +3 Combat Strength against Cavalry Units (bonus is only applied once).

Chevaler

Movement: 3; Combat Strength: 40
Norman Unique Cavalry Unit. +3 Combat Strength against Units with less Movement. Ignores Zone of Control

Keshig

Movement: 4; Combat Strength: 20; Ranged Strength: 30; Range: 2
Mongol Unique Ranged Unit. Counts as a Cavalry Unit and ignores zone of control. +1 Movement, and heals 15 HP after defeating enemy Units.

Mamluk

Abbasid Unique cavalry unit. When Stationed in or Occupying a Settlement, receive increased Combat Strength for every Urban Population in this Settlement.

Xunleichong

Ming Unique Infantry Unit. Has increased Combat Strength in Featureless Terrain. Has a Ranged attack.

 

Kispoko Nena’to

Movement: 2; Combat Strength: 35
Shawnee unique infantry unit. Increased Combat Strength for every Empire Resource.

Warak'aq

Inca Unique Ranged Unit. Has high Movement and ignores Rough penalties during Movement. Has increased Combat Strength when attacking from Rough tiles.

Leiomano

Hawai'i Unique Infantry Unit. Has increased Combat Strength against Infantry and Cavalry Units.

Gold Bangles Infantry

Requires: Heraldry; Upgrades at: Metal Casing
Unique infantry unit for Songhai. +5 Combat Strength on Resource tiles. +100% Gold from pillaging Trade Routes.

Kalam

Movement: 3; Combat Strength: 35; Ranged Strength: 30; Range: 2
Chola Unique Naval Unit. Has an additional Attack per turn if Movement allows.

Cetbang

Majapahit Unique Naval Unit. Has increased Combat Strength against Naval Units. Can pillage tiles at range with a reduced Movement cost.

Ottru

Requires: Astronomy
Chola Unique Naval Commander. Has +1 Movement and greater sight. Opposing Military Units in the Command Radius receive -3 Combat Strength.

City-State Units
