This is a character from Jen "Tochi" Wang's webcomic Strings of Fate. This is really just a reinterpretation of a piece Tochi did. Several people have pointed out how much she came out looking like an Ah! My Goddess! character; it's funny that it didn't occur to me while I was doing it.

The figure is inspired by the old black and white Pat Benatar Tropico poster that hangs in my studio, with some 80's color and a touch of Patrick Nagel tossed in for good measure. Something not quite right with the face.

2000's Christmas card. The goal here was something inspired by Art Nouveau poster boy Alphonse Mucha. Personally, I'm proud of the hands (which I had to redraw about seven times).

The background was originally done in Painter (she's supposed to be reclining on the couch in the Bebop's main lounge), but it looked terrible and I was out of time, so I blurred the heck out of it and covered it up with lots of pretentious text.

A fanart for the computer game American McGee's Alice. This piece was actually used in a Gamestop/Funcoland ad in the November 2000 issue of PCGamer, without my permission.

This is my take on the design of a "Sith Witch" in the Art of Star Wars Episode I book by Iain McCaig. Doing this piece taught me that lightsabers are actually white, with a colored glow.

This is my CD cover design for The huh? Album, an independent rap & hip-hop compilation from local Santa Cruz label Bottom of the Ninth Entertainment. The belt-line of her jeans looks a bit odd, because of a late request by the client to button her jeans (click here to see the early version, in all its unbuttoned glory). The background sucks, however. This was at the point where I was still terrified of backgrounds.

I think this may be the last piece I ever used a crow-quill pen on. What a pain in the butt. I recently retouched the face in Photoshop.

This was my way of doing a quick color piece before I discovered scanners and Photoshop: watercolors on a photocopy on heavy stock. I used to spend a lot of time at Kinko's before I got a scanner.
