Arioch, have you thought of making the forum available through Tapatalk or something similar? Is there a mobile format for the board that I might have missed?
Thanks,

Re: Tapatalk?
Newer versions of phpBB, and especially some "themes" have a pretty good native support for mobile devices.
But for a small board like this, I think the efoort in setting it all up is way beyond the rewards this small community gets for that.

The Ur-Quan Masters finally gets a continuation of the story! Late backing possible, click link.
Re: Tapatalk?
I'd rather not add ads or have to migrate to a commercial platform, so if I have time I'll check out what options phpBB has for mobile themes.
Re: Tapatalk?
IIRC, the default theme is decently adaptive on the latest version of phpBB3.
Re: Tapatalk?
On what platform? I can't read anything on this forum with Chrome on my LG Android phone, unless I zoom way way in. Does it work better with another browser?Hālian wrote:IIRC, the default theme is decently adaptive on the latest version of phpBB3.

Re: Tapatalk?
Far newer.
We were referring to the newest phpBB versions and the themes coming with that.
Goblinsforum updated two weeks ago to the newest phpBB, and it still takes me getting used to the changing width of the standard theme (prosilver) depending on device and screen orientation.

Re: Tapatalk?
The most recent is 3.2.2, released on January 7th. New features include emoji, PHP 7 support (and really you should be on PHP latest too), quotes with links back to the post quoted, easy updating from 3.2.x, reCAPTCHA 2.0, improved notifications, and support for FontAwesome icons & Symfony 2.8.Arioch wrote:I think there are newer versions of phpBB than the one I'm currently using.cacambo43 wrote:On what platform? Re: Tapatalk?
Easy upgrading from 3.2 won't help much, as the prosilver installed "is a 2007 version = 3.0.12"...
Apparently, the core of this forum is nearly 11 years old.... (3.0.0 was released Dec. 2007).
edit: I thought this is a 2. series, but the prosilver style proved me wrong. Edited.
edit: 3.0.12 was published Sep. 2013 (Source: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... &t=2200921)

Re: Tapatalk?
There's still a lot of effort involved in updating.
And on a "small" and rather inactive board like this one, it's not really necessary.
And it would distract from Arioch's time to create the comic.
Since I prefer the story to progress over having newest forum software, guess what I'll chose...

Not having security holes, hopefully. I can help with updating the forum if necessary.Krulle wrote:There's still a lot of effort involved in updating.
