Re: Page 216: Time to move!
And you would only need to measure it once to know the time differential for each jump. Sort of like a mileage chart on a road atlas.

Re: Page 215: About to Jump? Take drugs!
On the matter of the mentioned vibrations during jump. Is this something that happens despite your tech level or equipment within the Outsider setting? I can imagine that human jump technology might be cruder then what the Loroi and Umiak use, so the latter might be able to have easier transitions ...

Re: Page 214: Ready for boarding action!
I am not sure how to aim this thing, i dont see any holo or iron sights on it. Perhaps the pistol projects some sort of holographic sight that does not require a tube or frame, and only "powers up" when the safety is released or a finger is inside the trigger... space? Or that tubular gizmo on the ...

Re: Page 215: About to Jump? Take drugs!
Hooray! This is the first update to the comic since finding it back in December. It's been worth the wait. So, making a hyperspace jump really is like going through the star gate at the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey? Who knew? Kubrick's prescience is truly amazing. I also have it on good authority th...

Re: Outsider humor thread
Which TV program in 2160 got the most viewers ever at the start, the lowest ratings ever afterwards and caused the host to suffer a mental breakdown? The infamous 3 hour long Fireblade 'ask me anything' interview. I dunno, a mental breakdown on TV would probably make for pretty high ratings. Your a...

Yup. There are some pretty in-depth essays covering everything Loroi on the Insider page.

Re: Anti-Loroi and Anti-Umiak Weapons and Traps
Assuming we're talking about anti-personnel weapons and tactics here. Also important is where the fighting is taking place. In a confined space, like the interior of a ship during a boarding engagement, I think the ideal tactic for either side would be to lure the attacking force into a small area a...

Re: Hardest Space Game You Ever Played And Completed
Not much of a gamer myself, mainly because I am t-e-r-r-i-b-l-e at video games. True story: I used to get lost in the bathroom playing GoldenEye 007 for N64 in multiplayer games. I'd spawn there and couldn't find my way out. Although I used to play StarCraft on Battle.net way back in the day and cou...

Re: How to Draw Outsider Characters
Someday I'll have to learn the patience to draw like this. I think the hardest part for me, once I figured out shapes and proportions, would be getting the characters to look like the same person each time I drew them.

It's pretty old, but I imagine the technique is pretty much the same, just the software would be different.

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
The Loroi only eat one meal a day! Is it in the morning, afternoon, or the middle of the day? How big is the meal? And do they snack? Sorry for asking so many questions. If I had to guess, for ship-based warriors, it would be before they go on watch so they reach their peak energy state during watc...

Re: Outsider Musical Character Portraits
And on the subject of TSFH, how about this one for Alex's musical portrait. "Rocket to the Moon" by Thomas Bergersen. Starts out with the sense that you are embarking on the adventure of a lifetime. And at 20 years old and truly going "where no one (from Earth) has gone before" you've got to think t...

Re: Outsider Musical Character Portraits
Many of the songs from Two Steps From Hell and other such groups have fan-made extended versions. I've been listening to them for at least 10 years now. Their stuff gets better and better with every album. Re: Tempest, as the saying goes, "age and wisdom beats youth and enthusiasm every time." Often...

Re: Outsider Musical Character Portraits
I suppose Talon and Spiral can have better music than I originally gave them... so here goes. Throwing Fire by Ronald Jenkees I picked for Talon. Seems fitting... given her spunky, fiery spirit at times. DlKXJ906pd8 Spiral is seemingly less serious and comes off as a playful as they come, so I thou...

Re: Outsider Musical Character Portraits
<<snip>> Enjoyed it Stillstorm's is very fitting given all Taben girls DO serve aa sailors on sea ships, and she still talks like one after all these years lol. Runner up favorite to that for me is Fireblade's music. And Umiak evidently do have fear. Arioch implies as much. The cyborg was careful e...

Re: Outsider Musical Character Portraits
This seems like a fun thread to dig back up as I explore more and more of the Outsider-verse. I'm still pretty new to it (as well as the forums), so greetings! First up is Beryl. She seems to me to be genuinely kind, open, and friendly, curious to learn all about the world and universe around her, a...

Re: Miscellaneous Cast question-and-answer thread
Am I the only one who thinks Tempo would make the perfect roommate? Quite, pretty self contained, comfortable with silence yet still happy to talk, polite and thoughtful. Sure, she can be calculating, but if she likes you then she's using that ability on your behalf--the way she did with Alex. Temp...

Re: Could This Spaceship Design Work?
Detonating nuclear weapons behind a ship has actually been considered before as a theoretical means of propulsion for interplanetary travel. I'm not sure it has ever been considered as a means of reaching orbit. I can see two reasons why not: 1.) In simplified terms, rockets provide constant thrust,...

Re: Miscellaneous Cast question-and-answer thread
Which Loroi character would you get along with best as a roommate for 6 months and which would you not and why? For me? I dunno... but I fancy Stillstorm. The one I would likely get along best with?. I am too old to realky want to deal with all the antics of the Taben pilots. Likely I would get alo...
