An Outsider-themed Magic: The Gathering set

Re: An Outsider-themed Magic: The Gathering set
Maybe it could be in Trade and Umiak? Or Standard and Loroi Trade?
Re: An Outsider-themed Magic: The Gathering set
Trade, maybe
I plan to at least do the promo cards in Trade.

Oh nice.
There are a few problems, though:
There are a few problems, though:
- Erebas etc. etc.'s name needs shortened so it isn't squished.
- The artist credit should be Jim Francis, not Arioch.
- The copyright line needs to be "™ & © 2015 Wizards of the Coast".
- There's an unreplaced placeholder in Scimitar-class Heavy Cruiser's text box.

That doesn't matter to me one way or the other.Carl Miller wrote:[*]The artist credit should be Jim Francis, not Arioch.
Re: An Outsider-themed Magic: The Gathering set
Also, Greatsword-Class Battleship is extremely good. It's a strictly better Resto Angel (because it's uncommon and doesn't require any colored mana), and that's still a $7 card almost two years after it left Standard.
Re: An Outsider-themed Magic: The Gathering set
There are a lot of cards that have name like this. The initial idea was that Tempest was a rare type of ship so that is why the names is written in Loroi Trade ("Erebas"). If it's not looking good, we can use "Vortex-class Command Vessel" then.Carl Miller wrote:Erebas etc. etc.'s name needs shortened so it isn't squished.

Now that you said, I think "Jim Francis" make it look more realistic.Arioch wrote:That doesn't matter to me one way or the other.
I copied the line from some card I found in the internet (4chan I think). The cards are not original at wall, they were copied from Space: The Convergence, as you already know. So I though that line was good enough.Carl Miller wrote:The copyright line needs to be "™ & © 2015 Wizards of the Coast".
Fixing it...Carl Miller wrote:There's an unreplaced placeholder in Scimitar-class Heavy Cruiser's text box.
Sure. You will need this:Carl Miller wrote:I'd be interested in working with you on this.
Re: An Outsider-themed Magic: The Gathering set
I was rather lazy so I copied a S:tC card "Flikerfleet". Space: the Convergence doesn't have a symbol to display the rarity of the card , so I didn't knew.Carl Miller wrote:Also, Greatsword-Class Battleship is extremely good. Re: An Outsider-themed Magic: The Gathering set
I already have MSE, and pretty much all the Magic templates.
I renamed it to Command Vessel Erebas, and also gave all the ships races (Loroi, Umiak, or Human, as appropriate).
Also, I think we'd be better off just using normal Magic terminology.
Here's one of my own cards:
Torrai Azerein Ramarinzil
Legendary Creature — Loroi Lord {M}
Battle cry (Whenever this creature attacks, each other attacking creature gets +1/+0 until end of turn.)
Exalted (Whenever a creature you control attacks alone, that creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.)

Re: An Outsider-themed Magic: The Gathering set
We should figure out all the types of creatures/units.Carl Miller wrote:I renamed it to Command Vessel Erebas, and also gave all the ships races (Loroi, Umiak, or Human, as appropriate).
Humans have: Battlecruiser, Heavy Cruiser, Light Cruiser, Destroyer, Heavy Destroyer, Long-Range Scout, Heavy Scout, Long-Range Transport, Frigate, Fire Support Destroyer, Heavy Tug, Medium Transport.
Loroi have: Imperial Flagship, Sector Command Ship, Assault Carrier, Imperial Command Ship, Group Command Ship, Battleship, Heavy Battleship, Battlecruiser, War Cruiser, Strike Carrier, Heavy Cruiser, Escort Cruiser, Heavy Carrier, Command Cruiser, Light Cruiser, Light Carrier, Destroyer, Frigate, Fleet Support Tanker, Scout, Courier Corvette, Freighter, Passenger Transport, Troop Transport, Interceptor, Light Interceptor, Attack Craft, Heavy Fighter, Utility Shuttle, Heavy Transport, Trans-Atmospheric Shuttle, VIP Transport Shuttle, Assault Shuttle.
Umiak have: Ultraheavy, Superheavy, Heavy, Medium, Light.
The main reason to use the Space terms is that they come from a space fantasy setting rather than a medieval one.Carl Miller wrote:Also, I think we'd be better off just using normal Magic terminology.
Summon = Teleport
Land = Resource
Vigilance = Stabilize
Instant = Tactic
Artifact = Device
Sorcery = Strategy

Also, I prefer Greywind as Admiral:
Re: An Outsider-themed Magic: The Gathering set
Right now I have creature types Barsam, Delrias, Golim, Human, Loroi, Lurs, Orgus, Spirit, Tanuki, Umiak, Advisor, Berserker, Cleric, Construct, Elder, Knight, Lord, Nomad, Rogue, Scout, Ship, Warrior; plus the planeswalker type Tempest.Onaiom wrote:We should figure out all the types of creatures/units.
You're still using Magic's card frames and graphical assets, and if it looks like a duck...Onaiom wrote:The main reason to use the Space terms is that they come from a space fantasy setting rather than a medieval one.
Besides, parallels can easily be drawn in not-disrespectable number between the Loroi Union and feudal Japan, and they did do Kamigawa block
I have Soroin as Scouts (presently red/green though colors are up in the air right now). But I wouldn't print Ramarinzil-the-planeswalker at all, since she's a functional reprint of Ajani, Caller of the Pride.Onaiom wrote:

Here's my card ideas; ones with an underscore are salvaged from an older iteration. You'll need these templates (and may need to run MSE as an admin to get the installer to work).

Maybe I should revisit this now that Vehicles are a thing…
