I did undergo surgery. I'm hoping to be discharged from the hospital tomorrow.

Sounds like they removed bone... so I presume you are sore at the very least if not limping.

I'm fit enough to go home, but they won't discharge me until they get on the same page with insurance, etc., since I'll be on I.V. antibiotics for a while. I don't know when that's going to happen.

I'm old enough to remember a thing where I live called pox parties, something parents were encouraged to do during the 70's and 80's. Children with chicken pox or a similar "mild" illness were put together to share it around and build up immunities to it. Immunisation/vaccination programs were/are a thing and most children had them within their first few years of birth (keeping in mind the health care system here is nationalised and funded through taxes). But this activity was still encouraged in central and northern england. Its died out since then and rare to even hear about it these days. Most younger generation parents are horrified at the mention of it.

By "septic" I just meant infected. The technical term is osteomyelitis.

Lol I have had that same sentiment after some invasive surgery. I'd say make sure to get some sleep but one's body has a way of enforcing that whether one likes it or not.

Just, you know, make sure to wake back up.

Yeah health is bizarre more often than not. My Achilles heel randomly decided go give up on me last week.
