Too many connections [1040]

Post by Arioch »

I'm aware of the recurring Too many connections [1040] errors... I've been through one round with support and it has been escalated.

This is my first SQL problem with the new host, so we'll see how it goes.

Don't hesitate to let me know if your support cannot fix this to your satisfaction.

Additionally to the 1040 errors, I'm experiencing infrequent hangers when trying to access the forums. It simply refuses to load, sometimes long enough to cause a timeout error from the browser. On other occasions, however, it shows the "Too many connections [1040]" site error right away.

Another massive attack from General Error and his mindless minions, it's almost impossible to browse the forms. It takes about a dozen attempts to post anything.

Is this still happening to anyone else? I haven't seen the error since 9/2.

It happened to me today - somewhere from five to six hours before this post.

Just had one a few seconds ago - it only happened once and reloading worked.

ETA: It was happening off and on for about 30 minutes after I posted this.

And happened once today when trying to log in, about 10 minutes ago - was able to browse several threads with no issue since then.

Happens pretty much constantly today, logging in didn't change much.

I have not had any such difficulties, whether using a W10 or W6 machine, an Android phone, or an iPad.

I assume this forum isn't the only one hosted by the provider, and it's on a shared DB, so it'd follow these brownouts are just prompted by a noisy neighbor.

The provider replied back that they can't replicate error and don't see any errors in the MySQL logs.

Logs might not even emit an error on the database side for 'too many connections' depending on how their logging for DBs is set up. They could see metrics assuming they have them set up for DB conn counts, but otherwise It'd just be phpBB error logs that'd be interesting. /tg/ threads are where the real action is anyways.

I opened a new ticket to let them know that it's still happening (though I haven't seen it happen since that first day).

It happened to me about an hour ago -- iPad through a secured WiFi router.  I am now logged in through a PC at work.

General Error is at it again! I ran into this problem just now, it took me 7 attempts to open the forums, then 5 more to log in.

Edit: posting something needs about 5 retries as well. :x
