It looks pretty complete to me, and I can't find any faults with it on first and second glance. We can start RP when there's either two or more humans (Pilot and Co-pilot of the Shuttle at least), or at least 3 Loroi. I don't think each introduction scene takes more then 3 pages, meaning that by page 6 or so, the two lines will have combined.
In the case of low interest in playing a Russian Cosmonaut, I will handle those personally. If we end up getting a 2/2/3 split, I have ideas reduce the amount of split scenes.
Cool. By the way considering we are playing ..albiet in an 'alternate' Outsider Universe...should I your a more comic style character pic? I've found one that works and stays in theme for the game as well.
I think its good if we stay close to the "art" of the original, so I'm all in agreement with portraying any characters you wish to portray as comic and manga style characters.
I'm personally comparing this world to the MuvLuv setting, in tone... But with a bit less alien hordes and a bit less of the "the world is already ending" motives.
Ofcourse there's no giant robots, either, as far as we know.
Whatever the case may be, You are free to do as you like in this regard.
Also n a story note. Athen is current;y VERY suspicious of the US Government's intentions... likely if they were to come to him to do some new secret nebulous mission.. he would flatly refuse. But, he IS a patriot through and though... and his old superiors know that. He might take some convincing but in the end Athen is a Hero... and they know he won't refuse to help mankind in such a momentous occasion as 'First Contact'.
It would be nice to showcase Athen's reservations about the Government's intentions in the introduction RP of the US.. or perhaps UN representatives coming to 'collect' and "volunteer" Athen for this Shuttle flight. He has a limited amount of training that would be useful in a Space Mission {Scuba for some Zero-G opperations, Piloting, Mechanics 'Engineering' general Damage control, Physical Science 'Mathematics' & Navigation for astrogations tasks, and of course his doctor and biochemistry sciences for obvious reasons}... something wholly outside his training.
There'll be a time and place to exposition such things, don't worry about that. Though I am aiming to keep the storyline of the RP thread more focused, I won't deny you the option to write a longer then normal introduction post that narrates the character and explains his quirks to the reader.
And please stop predicting exactly what my Intentions are.
I run games myself {which is why I only have the time to play here myself} and am Always thinking campaign and story elements... lol!
I do so hope some one makes a Russian character.. that would be a Very interesting Dynamic! Athen does not hate Russians as much as he has a great distaste for the Russian Government's Policies that curtail or abjectly arrest human freedoms, rights to privacy and personal dignity. After all.. for a time, he was in love with a Russian agent!
My childhood scifi books were E.E."Doc" Smith's - Skylark of Space: Series; Lensman: Series, Family D'Alembert Series, and just about anything else the "Doc" wrote!
I'm interested in joining the RP, but I'm not familiar with the ruleset that you guys are using. In fact, I've never even heard of BESM before coming into this forum. Where would I find the rulebook for such?
Question- I don't quite understand how skill progression works, due to confusing wording. What are the differences between fast, medium, and slow progression, and what did the manual mean when it said that you may have to start at a level higher than the skill level?
EDIT: I'm planning on making a socially inept scientist character. Especially since I don't understand military matters that well. Or the '80s on that note.
EDIT 2: Does the Computer Scanning ability mean that the character psychically understands computers, or that he/she reads it via technological means IE a laptop computer or console interface?

Not sure what you mean by slow medium and high advancement. We are using {as far as I know} BESM 3rd Edtion.. not d20 BESM. Slow, medium fast progression sounds like the Pathfinder experience point level based-system chart... last I knew we are not using D20.
If you give me a e-mail address I can zip and e-mail you a copy of the BESM 3rd Edition rules.
