Hmm. I think our host said something like "food will be found from an unexpected source," and that telling us would be a spoiler.

"Enzin, I'm afraid we're down to testing your ability to consume our least desirable foodstuffs. I'm sorry, but do you think you could stomach nothing but Lobster and Caviar for the next few months? If not, I'm afraid Veal and Foie Gras is all we have left."
Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
My money is still on Tempos private rations.

Maybe I'm thinking too close to Rule 34, or "fanservice", but aren't the Loroi mammals?kiwi wrote:Hmm. I think our host said something like "food will be found from an unexpected source," and that telling us would be a spoiler.
Otherwise, I am also on Tempo's private stash.
[edit]If the order of my two comments here are connected, that's in your mind only. I only saw it after posting, hence the edit.[/edit]
Seeing that the Loroi are genetically engineered, I presume they can stomach a much larger variety of food, and gain nutrients from stuff poisonous to us.
I don't think there's anything a Loroi couldn't eat (for biochemical reasons) that we Humans could digest.
Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
It would be a really big spoiler if Alex could eat Barsam food.
It would also disappoint lots of readers. Well, unless the special dietary habits of the Barsam come into play.

Alex will get buff with all that protein.
Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
I'm going to presume that the most nutritiously valuable food for Alex will end up being the Loroi equivalent to Mustard or Ketchup.
Either that or some kind of tuber that the loroi consider highly toxic.

I'm going to spend all day trying to come up with sauce puns now.Roeben wrote:I'm going to presume that the most nutritiously valuable food for Alex will end up being the Loroi equivalent to Mustard or Ketchup.

In the mean time:
A: "Oh no! Captain Jardin drank all the Emperor's Wow-Wow sauce."
B: "How anyone can like that paint stripper is beyond me. Wait. Did you say drank?"
A: "Yes. Even the new shipment which still had sweat condensing on the bottles. And then he asked for an activated carbon briquette to 'settle' his stomach."
B: "We need to call Damage Control right now."

He finds out that Umiak taste like lobster when you take out the cyborg bits.Krulle wrote:Maybe I'm thinking too close to Rule 34, or "fanservice", but aren't the Loroi mammals?kiwi wrote:Hmm. It is going to be something....interesting I suspect.

And then we find out the real reason why the war started.orion1836 wrote:He finds out that Umiak taste like lobster when you take out the cyborg bits.

That was my headcanon, when I played StarCraft 1 at school - zergs taste like lobsters.orion1836 wrote: He finds out that Umiak taste like lobster when you take out the cyborg bits.
Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
I'll bet that it is the Loroi equivalent of Limburger cheese....
Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Fireblade: Today's lesson on how to make the most of your dead enemy's corpse, we will learn how to pressure cook a Umiak thigh. Pinky, get over here and hand me that cleaver...the big one...the bigger one...get me the bigger one or I go in your head again.
Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Perhaps this has been asked, but what about the other four ships? Could one of them have stumbled onto the Umiak? Could one of them come in to the southern border of the Loroi and they already know about Earth? At some point they have to make some sort of contact unless the other four are support ships only and the Bellarmine is the only scout.
Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
No, there were four scouts and one support ship, and the whereabouts of the other three scouts are unknown to us.Murph wrote:Perhaps this has been asked, but what about the other four ships? I doubt one of the other scouts could have reached the southern Union border though. 10-15 jumps (translates roughly to 40-60 lightyears) can't be enough to cross outside Loroi -and Umiak borders to the south (I assume the Maiad sector).

Yes but we are still missing those ships. The area is so large, they have to make contact of some sort.GeoModder wrote:No, there were four scouts and one support ship, and the whereabouts of the other three scouts are unknown to us.Murph wrote:Perhaps this has been asked, but what about the other four ships? Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Given the nature of the strip so far, I'd suspect that the others were similarly ambushed as Bellarmine was, but had no last second implausible rescue of anyone.Murph wrote:Yes but we are still missing those ships. Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
It doesn't look like Bellarmine was ambushed. She was only fired upon after she tried making contact. Their adversary seemed as surprised as the Bellarmine.
