The Loroi had enough time to analyze the stuff and figure out their general use - after all, they took their time traveling all the way from Naam. And Beryl placing a nudepic of herself on that device, just for him to find. Of course, "just to show him that Loroi females do look similar to human ones, too."

...and, on second thought, that would put her line about "talking about nakedness taboos" in a whole new light as well.

Or a pic of that red harpy under shower made secretly by Tempo and Beryl, just to see if Fireblade detects Alex if confronted with something so unexpected....

I'm guessing, if it is someone else's pad, it isn't Ellen. Alex's expression looks more thoughtful than emotional, and I feel like he'd maybe be a bit more emotional on seeing her.
