Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
On Corellia it seemed like they were building components of Star Destroyers on the surface, but assembling in orbit. Kuat seems to have its industry in an orbital ring shipyard network.

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Very 21st (or perhaps even 20th) century thinking. The Loroi are at least a millennia past us in terms of space travel capabilities and experience.

Re: Page 208: All aboard!!!
Haven't really tried a MoO3 game in a while...the game was kind of broken from what I remember. But its been a long time since I tried a serious game, and while I have it with the Wargaming package deal with their version of MoO, I've not sat down to figure out how to play it again. I always liked t...

Re: The Death Of The Heavy Scifi Battleship
Sci-fi space battleship either make up their own terms and form the crew/actors to explain to others (who should know already) in a way to tell the audience what is going on, or they fall back on World War era ship jargon that they expect people to have heard before so they don't need to explain as ...

Maybe encountering Loroi of this skill level is rare.

Re: Page 206: Just needs an expert's touch
Knowing there are Umiak in the next system over doesn't do you much good if there are suppose to be Umiak in that system (a colony or outpout). But if there are Umiak in a system where there are not suppose to be Umiak, that can be useful as an early warning to get ships here....NOW!

Re: The Death Of The Heavy Scifi Battleship
Space Battleship Yamato has some of that in different terms. Early on the Gamilas have a new technology that can warp things a distance away from the launching platforms. This is used to deploy bombers across space with little to no warning before they can attack. Later this is used to deliver small...

Re: Page 206: Just needs an expert's touch
If I recall the war started due to some kind of border dispute that turned violent. It is unclear who started it, or if the whole thing was bait setup by the Umaik as an excuse for war, but the Umaik were ready for a war. The Loroi were not as they did not have much information about the Umaik holdi...

Re: Miscellaneous Umiak/misc. races question-and-answer thread
In this setting, should there be an Alcubierra-like drive in use (warp drive), it would seem impractical compared to the currently in use jump drives in terms of time needed to get from system to system. The last theoretical reported speed the Alcubierra drive could reach was ten times the speed of ...

Re: Miscellaneous Umiak/misc. races question-and-answer thread
The only way I see experimentation being possible in hyperspace would be to know enough about the hyperspace locations of realspace gravity wells to intentionally plan a jump that is outside the regular distances possible with the current understanding that is within one's own territory (so that you...

Re: Miscellaneous Umiak/misc. races question-and-answer thread
Being able to slip in and out of hyperspace, or a least some other parallel dimension without really traveling far relative to the target, would be a suitable form of stealth. Can't see what is not in realspace. Dimensional submarines at that point.

Page 118 its said the Sol System is beyond the "Empty Quarter". No one goes out there. It is not well surveyed. The star doesn't appear on Loroi charts. It is a "fainter star" after all.

The suggestion was that the Loroi explorers found a lot of dead worlds in the direction of Earth and stopped looking in that direction.

At 200 or so light years out I wonder if they would spot our little world, or if they would just pickup the four larger gas giants and not the inner planets?

These soldiers are as good as drones for the Umiak. Breed to do this and probably only this. Why build a mechanical robot when you can grow your own genetic drones.

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
The hurtles with that theory. 1. Earth's first contact with the Orgus was Halloween, 2158. Alex's ship was destroyed on July 14th, 2160 after being on mission for 58 days. 2. The mission has been in planning for at least six month prior to the five ships leaving Earth space. Four scouts and a long r...
