Re: What to Do with Jardin (Fan Fic)

Oh come on! Yeah, this is why we have necroposting rules. I saw the thread had been updated by the writer, and ...nope, someone asking the obvious. You're probably gonna hate this, but... Since I know that some people (for reasons entirely unknown to me) like the things I write, I thought it fair t...

Re: OUTSIDER complaints

Sorry, but no Guys, I am not expecting the unreasonable. Yes you are. Nobody reasonable would look at how long Outsider has been going on versus how many pages it has up and conclude "surely this webcomic will pick up steam if I start reading it." Outsider updates are a bit like the McRib sandwich ...

Re: The "Real Aerospace" Thread

Speaking of radiation in space, bearing in mind I'm hugely nerding out here, I'm trying to figure out how many rads/sieverts someone fighting basically nude at the altitude of geostationary orbit would take over the course of an ~5-10 sword fight. I haven't been able to find a good answer with the a...

Re: OUTSIDER complaints

It would take an impossible act of magic, but if we could have Outsider quality with Schlock Mercenary's update schedule, we would have discovered the holy grail of webcomics. In lieu thereof, I'll just keep SchlockMercenary.com as my homepage, and keep coming back here. At least Outsider has more p...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Yes, of course, there are multiple locations from which a ship can be controlled if necessary. The consoles are just computer terminals; if you have the right security access, almost any of them can be configured to run whatever function you need, or switch from "live" data to simulated data. Both ...

Re: Stars in Shadow

Weapons fire can destroy engines, but there is no way to currently do so on purpose. Limpet missiles and EMP missiles can be used to disable a ship without destroying it, though it seems that Limpets are not currently in the game for some reason. There are more boarding options planned (such as tra...

Re: Stars in Shadow

If one doesn't have boarding tech and a specialized ship do we have to immobilize the ship by destroying its engine before being able to board it? That's right. How does one disable/board a ship? I never bothered, as it seemed to me to be far, far too much work and risk for far too limited payoff. ...

Re: Stars in Shadow

It's a gameplay rather than a realism issue; Star Trek style replicator technology would essentially make the Food resource irrelevant (and would probably make Metal and even production irrelevant as well -- poof, there's your ship). I think it's generally not a good idea to introduce technologies ...

Re: Stars in Shadow

Wrem are no worse off on a Garden than a Barren. But an aquatic species living on an Iceball that likes deep ocean vents might consider an Earthlike "garden" world to be a downgrade, rather than an upgrade, since it would have less habitable space for them. For the most part, the game won't let you...

Re: Stars in Shadow

Hey, do you have to move a species which is primarily garden-dwelling to a planet before you see the option to Garden terraform it? I don't think so, but I do think that the terraforming options don't show up if there's a race on the planet that would be negatively affected by it. Terraforming opti...

No, they don't sing.
Loroi in general, Tabeni in general, or Loroi mariners? Because I thought singing was one of the forms of Loroi artistic expression?

Re: Halfway station RP thread.

Do not pump any characters full of roids, please. Also remember that said loroi raised by humans could be female :P I do not intend to play this myself. It was interned as an alternative to a male halfbreed. I believe that going out adventuring with a traditional male loroi would be a bit difficult...

It never rains but it pours, eh?

Well, as long as things keep going. It's not like we're not used to things going slow around here, just as long as they are going.

Might have to repurchase the fonts, if you can't provide proof of purchase, though that would suuuuck.

Re: Halfway station RP thread.

Growing up on earth, this would be done to avoid lot's of abuse. Kids can be mean to each other. He would still have blue skin thou. I kind of feel the need to point out that pumping your kid full of what amounts to anabolic steroids would qualify as being mega abuse. Of the "get your kid taken awa...

Re: Halfway station RP thread.

Yeah... To be honest, I'd rather go with the whole "Yo, guys, they may look super-alike, but this isn't Star Trek, Loroi and Human aren't crossfertile without the intervention of some fantastic genetic engineers that don't exist anymore" canon stance.

Re: Stars in Shadow

I'll repost this in the SIS forums so that Sven (the programmer) can see it. Just so you know, I don't fix bugs. Bug reports would be most helpful if posted in the SIS forums or the Steam forums where Sven can see them. Yeah, I figured, but I didn't know if there was some kind of bug-reporter speci...

Re: Stars in Shadow

Found a nasty bug, Arioch. It's new, introduced by the patch that was just pushed, because I've done this before and it was fine. It happened when I used the "Move Colonists" button on the planet's image at the bottom of the screen, and moused over a unit of armor - Mechs, specifically - to transfer...
