Re: CERN claims FTL neutrinos
IIRC, those're called patterns and math is used to describe and understand them as how nature works. Basically, math is the translation of the language in which the universe operates, but they are not the same, one is just a crude simulacrum of the other.

Re: CERN claims FTL neutrinos
Mathematical formulas can sometimes be a hinderance as much as they can be usefull. Why should I be concerned with deviding by zero? Half the math uses immaginary numbers - which don't exist in nature - to get their results. :geek: Dividing anything by zero equals a subset of infinity from what I c...

Re: The Current State of Human Technology
Combat engineering exoskeletons seem relatively plausible. Operate tethered to an engineering vehicle for power, replace tires/wheels/tracks and deploy bridges in the field, set up equipment and defenses at base, etc. However, you have to ask why the controller has to be in the machine rather than ...

Re: The Current State of Human Technology
As far as materials tech goes, we /might/ be able to produce something like crystallized transparent aluminum (I believe it is called sapphire?) and we already have electromagnetic molds in the prototype phase for advanced ceramics (or metals apparently, my bad) if not already widespread. Advanced s...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs
*glances at the Tempest, then at Arioch, and then at his brownie*Frankly I always expect military warships to be spartan and minimalistic when it comes to interior design. Huge, spacious hallways, or the "interior park" as you call it, is just a waste of space and bad design practice.

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs
Well looking at the ship class rundown again. And I'm getting a vibe, that future terran warships, if they follow current terran doctrine will be fairly brutal birdies... Just comparing the current HC to the Loroi one... While being a lot smaller... [Terrans] cram whatever they can [into a hull pac...

Re: Page 92
Ah I see now. So say two ships jump closer to friendly lines and then fly in separate directions to a predetermined distance. This could clearly be used to communicate something or other. There are all sorts of variations you could plan off of manoeuvres like this. Complex orders would still need a...

Actually, it kind of does, that's more or less an entire pier in a docking complex, and in space? that's expletive-inducingly huge.discord wrote:just one thing to say, three docking booms does not a huge space-harbor make.

Re: Warhammer 40,000
Insn't a bolter a caseless round. if I remember correctly the first push, which actually allows it to be lethal even in close range is due to case being consumed in the first burst so to speak. Essentially like a normal round in a sense. After that, the bolter itself then has propellant. But as opp...

Re: Warhammer 40,000
Well, just because the setting is about as stiffly written as a cheap wire hangar doesn't mean you can't dissect as much of it as possible for one's own gratification. Regarding the boltgun, we could be working with advanced propellants, maybe some sort of liquid-state or plasma-based propellant tha...

Re: Warhammer 40,000
rapid fire RPG launcher You're giving bolters way too much credit, they're just glorified Gyrojets . .75 caliber gyrojets (19.5mm, ~0.768"), potentially with a dual-stage launch (it's the only reason we fans can think of for bolters ejecting brass) For reference, this is a 20mm vulcan shell compare...

Also, apparently we, Arioch's fans, are some sort of collective celebrity to /tg/? or am I mistaking that for the vision of a horde of rabble?
