Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Arioch! A new question, critical to the storyline. I'd like to know as much as possible about... Jardin's marker pen. It looks like it says ECS-154 on it, which is the Bellarmine's identifier. So I presume it was in his uniform pocket under his suit and was recovered with him. He was seen writing do...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
On a professional level, Beryl and Tempo would see Alexander Jardin as a porential asset. Be it for insights into an alien science and biology on Beryl's side or intelligence on Tempo's side. And on personal level... well, it does look like a bout of jealousy on Beryl's part. After all, Talon seemi...

Re: Pages 114, 115, 116
Edit: I find the last image a bit... weird from perspective. For Alexander's hand and her hand to be across her chest, Alexander must've jumped sides of the shuttle (you can still see a pilot chair in the background, so she's still on the starboard side of the gangway), and is now standing also on ...

Re: P A G E 1 1 3
It's not uncommon for professionals working in an environment where there's a lot of deaths (soldiers, doctors, nurses) for people to become somewhat jaded to the concept. As a sort of defence mechanism, they develop a rather morbidly casual approach to the subject that outsiders don't easily apprec...

That is singularly impressive attention to detail!Arioch wrote:Lighting changes from scene to scene, and the colors of the characters change accordingly.
Hopefully signs that there are a lot more scenes in the works!

Is it me, or are the colours rather washed put on page 113?
I go from looking at Jardin's uniform in the last panel of 112 and by comparison, it seems rather faded in 113. Perhaps a colour correction issue?

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Hello! I came back to Outsider after a long time away to see if it was still here. I'm pleased that there has been some progress! I've been watching on and off since the early days. I have a few comments questions and requests. I've searched a bit for and found some answers, but please forgive me if...

Re: Page 91
I find it very interesting to see that Fireblade actually touched Alex, given that she's already shown off her powerful kinetic abilities. I'm sure she could psi-shove him out of the door if need be.
I agree that she looks unusually innocent or hurt in the close-up.

Re: The Golim
More than likely, such controls have some sort of organic component. Imagine a button that has half of the circuit completed by pressing a button, and the other half completed by a muscle contracting (perhaps bringing two pieces of wire into contact with each other.) Any ol person could press the b...

Re: The Golim
In the Insider archives there's a line about telepathy and inanimate objects:
"They're touch-operated controls. Some key switches may require the telepathically "hot" touch of a Loroi to activate, however."
How are such objects made? Can the Lorai manufacture psi-sensitive objects?

Re: Stillstorm laughed...
It would be recognisable, regardless of the size it is! The 'Bell was holding off (hiding) from the conflict going on in the system, so wouldn't have a vector that could be extrapolated. Additionally, once it started any kind of combat action, its original course would be obscured. Unless there's so...

Re: Stillstorm laughed...
i tought She referring about the ship pattern in answer to Alex question (otherwise she wouldn't say it but "think" it) That's a good way to recognise it, too. According to Insider, the Umiak don't change ships often, if at all. I believe it was stated that starship crews are often also the same cr...

Re: Stillstorm laughed...
"odd" doesn't mean non-umiak. It means odd to Stillstorm. And in what context? Odd tactical patterns? Odd shell marking patterns? Odd speach patterns? she didn't specify. Hence why why cannot really say that Kliktik is odd for an umiak, as we have nothing to compare him to. I would think that of al...

Re: Stillstorm laughed...
I don't think Stillstorm is just referring to Kliktik's facial features. She said "odd patterns" and then comments that its displays a certain degree of higher intelligence, tactical understanding and even self-preservation that its comrades do not. This Umiak clearly doesn't think completely as the...

Re: Page 89
It doesn't matter, mining a jump point with enough ball bearings to have a reasonable chance of a collision would take impractical amounts of material. Putting a single 10 gram ball bearing in every 10 km cube in a 1 AU^3 volume would take 33 quadrillion metric tons of ball bearings. Even if you ha...

Re: Page 89
About the updated FTL travel page... The last item on there is about mining a jump point. If a ship doesn't have shields, the consequences of even a ball-bearing sized piece of scrap metal in orbit hitting it are huge, assuming either the ship or the scrap is travelling at 10% the speed of light (i....

Re: Map of the Steppes (Seren-Tinza) Front
The fact that a safe exit from hyperspace appears to require a gravity well of appreciable size. So save for the very unlikely and almost non existent black hole in our stellar back yard, a "deep Space" exit isnt going to happen. its my guess that black holes have enough gravity to them that you co...
