Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Apart from hairstyle, complexion and shape of face there doesn't seem to be much variation in Loroi outlooks. They seem to have roughly about the same height and build. One could argue that their armed forces have strict requirements on size, weight and fitness (likely) or that they just have little...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

Another thing... Do you know what a really, really scary thought would be? Loroi picking through the wreckage of the Bellarmine and sifting though the belongings of the crew, finding the occasional pin-up and x-rated movies. I mean, think about that - they had time enough to recover fifty-seven dead...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

And here's possibly another ingredient to the already explosive mix: If one actually disseminates that wall of text the Umiak commander sounded off (don't ask me to repeat its designation here, please...), one could see that it named his own side and the Loroi "Forces of the Hierarchy" and "the enem...

Re: Page 104 discussion.

Ouch. Enter the alien with just the appearance similar enough to shake the foundations of Loroi dogma or propaganda (see Mozin's comments), representing a completely unknown power and danger in this part of the galaxy. Pretty much sure everyone would want a part of Alex and 'humaniti' in general (no...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Which actually begs the question... would Loroi women actually 'dress up', as in, enhance their feminine characteristics? Even if someone would say 'there's no reason to', it would be about the same principle as with the (human) wife of a blind husband still spending her time to beauty up in front o...

Re: Page 104 discussion.

Yet, Tempo's influence seems to go only that far... http://www.well-of-souls.com/outsider/outsider090.html and http://www.well-of-souls.com/outsider/outsider091.html show us that things seemingly went downhill pretty much fast. We never know if Still-Storm issued orders via open sending (thus, being...

Re: Page 104 discussion.

Still there's the proverb "If you have nothing good to say, say nothing."... Tempo could have conveyed that tidbit about sanzai and speech without that final jab, and little would have been lost from the message. She as a trained wordsmith would know the effect of her final comment, and before and a...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

Huh. All valid points, though we have to keep in mind that we assume body language and expressions to be similar to those of humans. While there might be some common ground, think of this - a cat may lie on its back as a gesture of complete trust, or just to bring all four sets of vicious claws and ...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

Unless Alex swings the other way there would be some obvious interest from his part but self preservation instincts, coupled with the interrogation by the Teidars would make sure that he didn't fall in such a trap. Yep, being mind raped would be somewhat of a turn down. So Fireblade would be right ...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

Aaaaand.... cue in Fireblade's growing distaste about things going out of control that fast. I just imagine her sending, something like "<Oh, do you really want to verify Beryl's claim about humaniti males being larger? Bleh, thanks for the image, I'd rather have lived without it.>" I'd rather belie...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

Guess we cannot know at this point. Of course, Alex (and by extension, we) see 'their' actions through the human lens, but the other way around would work as well. If (granted, that's a big if) Tempo has no idea about Beryl's 'biological inquiry' she may assume that human males work on the same prin...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

I did elaborate a bit on that in http://www.well-of-souls.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1050&start=50 , for me it looks a bit less like "good cop, bad cop" but more like "nerdy but adorable and cute girl" (Beryl) and "mysterious, alluring woman" (Tempo), though, judging from Beryl's expression that...

Re: Page 104 discussion.

Well, I'm pretty sure Tempo engineered her own egress from the very start, as seen in http://www.well-of-souls.com/outsider/outsider062.html . Frankly, why would someone schooled in the arts of diplomacy make a statement in the CO's earshot which can be counted as insubordination? Definitely a caree...

Re: Armrests?

Actually, this shuttle looks more like a military vessel/troop transport rather than a leisure cruiser. Fitting, since it does belong to a strike force. So, my thoughts were that armrests are deliberately omitted just because inter-fleet troop movement from ship to ship wouldn't take long anyway, so...
