Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs
Also, as for "areas" than can and cannot be covered ... the Jump Points are known (more or less); the locations of the destination planet(s) are fairly obvious, as are destination Jump Point(s) (if simply passing through the system). The patrolling forces do not need to be able to cover the entire s...

Re: Couple questions
Nah, Astartes generally only get cybernetic augments/replacements for limbs/organs/body parts that they've lost due to injury, except for the Tech-Marines, who are a mix of Space Marine and Mechanicus Tech-priest. I mean, yeah, there'll be some exceptions (it is 40k after all), but they're mainly ju...

Any information storaged in any format, which need any kind of equipment to view it, is useless to loroi. With or without encryption. http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQOGQAQX_Pz3uHTSsz274zwUxvgus04Mz7IBUbmzFZzM0BrzArH Except for the one's they salvaged the necessary equipment for. Remember,...

They should have been detected long before entering Naam, as it's sort of in the middle of no-man's (no-xeno's?) land. SG51 (and the other Loroi) haven't just been sitting around in Naam the entire time that the Bellarmine was traversing (laterally) the Steppes. Sure, it's "only" a small amount of ...

Re: I wrote a thing.
hi hi One other thing to keep in mind is that the Umiak don't send their newest warships out on these little raids. Who knows when these current vessels were constructed, and what tactics the Loroi were using at the time? (probably Arioch) The Loroi aren't using their new-build ships on the interdi...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs
javcs: in absolute performance, i'd say about 15% using the same technology, but given the ease of re using older parts and re fitting older ships, i'd say around 25% cheaper to run....and would more easily and faster to keep pace with technology advancement....so for humans early post-loroi interv...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs
Ah! sorry, let me explain what i was thinking, the armor on the ship is in standard sized plates with the AUTOcad molds for these back at base, to replace the armor, all they would have to do would be to make some up, ship them out and bolt them on. You'd need a mobile drydock for that, wouldn't yo...

Have they picked him up yet? I thought that the current Farseer was due to be rotated back and replaced, but that that hadn't happened yet, and was going to happen when SG51 linked up with the next resupply convoy.

They're swiping puns? That ... how does that even ... WTF? I mean, I can understand swiping concepts and ideas for shows - ie, CSI-type ... though ... damn, I just realized something - in terms of broadcast TV (where I live), almost all the prime-time shows are either "reality shows" or police proce...

The very fact that certain particles can pass through planets and stars makes them effectively useless for active sensors - they'll just pass through whatever is there. While the exotic particle reaction utilized to power ships may or may not emit the relevant variety of particle as a byproduct ... ...

Re: Couple questions
Actually, I'd expect driver round mass to be a less important factor than driver round volume. Sure, the mass is important (technically), but at the scale of the drives, even Terran drives, mass is probably less of a limiting factor on storage than the volume required for that storage. How much does...

Re: Map of the Steppes (Seren-Tinza) Front
Maybe the Terran have more efficient jumpdrive that make them jump farther. After all they didnt base this tech on Soia artifact Possibly, at least, that a possibility that I floated ages upon ages ago. Or I seem to remember it being said that the way we do math is easier/more efficient than the me...

Re: Outsider goes Big Screen
You could animate the battles fairly easily, but nailing the character bits in 3d/2d without a skilled team would be very time consuming. To be honest I think this would work better as live action. Cheesy "we're aliens because our faces are superficially different" costumes have worked for Star Tre...

IIRC, Arioch has stated (somewhere) that left to our own devices, humans would reach approximate parity with mainline Umiak/Loroi technologies in ~100-200? years. It took them upwards of 1000 years. They're said to be 5? tech generations ahead of humanity, but humanity (for various reasons) has a su...

Most interesting.
Eh, the Bell will last a while yet, since the Loroi seem to intend to hold it as long as possible and extract as much information as possible, while the Umiak want to capture it intact.

Re: Armor values
You're making the assumption that Terran, Loroi, and Umiak armor materials are of equivalent defensive value for the same degree of application. Terran armor is masses more and is thicker than Loroi or Umiak armor, thus, they're using more of it - but it's not as effective. Loroi and Umiak armor mat...
