Re: Life is hard . .

No you are not justified to complain I remember waiting entire years, checking in monthly hoping for updates. Those were the days: So much nicer having more excuses to check in around here these days honestly. But thankfully the quality of the produced content hasn't dropped. That last city image. W...

Re: 176: Low Tide!

So skipping the Lore question which can be discovered elsewhere.... Who to ask out for dinner eh? I don't think any of them would be a bad partner (although Fireblade would be a bit quiet for my tastes) but you might need to express a need to avoid the topic of what exactly they are eating till afte...

Re: 174-175: Got milk?

Now lets say that the ancient mammals of 65 million years ago were rat like in their behavior and mating characteristics. Suddenly all the main predators they had to deal with disappeared in a short amount of time due to the aforementioned ecological catastrophe. Without natural predators these anc...

Re: 174-175: Got milk?

It seems odd that mammals should evolve a baby food that appears to be so problematic to digest, but I'm sure there's some logical biochemical rationale for why the system works. *inner Biochemist itching* So why is milk MILK? Why lactose? Why do we lose the ability to digest lactose and why do we ...

Good lord, even your cats are Photogenic!

*suddenly has a mental picture of beryl in a large 'evil overlord' chair smiling brightly with a big white longhaired cat curled up on her lap as she pets it, obviously plotting world domination*

*bumps own thread because of a interesting distraction* Me and Carl were chatting on IRC... and came up with a fan picture I want to see someone make: Set on a field of snow with either falling snow or stars in the sky... Re: Is Outsider still an active project, or is it over?

You mistake 'cannot lie' for 'Difficult to conceal' Loroi can lie to each other, but it requires hiding their minds to do so, something that most Loroi such as Stillstorm distrust, and so given that they cannot see Alex's mind, it isn't hard to believe they think he has much to conceal. I presume St...

I'm on, and we are up to 3 idlers, Suderwind, try making it 4, and the rest of you please stick around about an hour, sometimes folks even while online get distracted or busy.

If you only pop in for 2 minutes it can make it VERY hard for us to reply before you leave.

Re: A regular update schedule

To create a regular update schedule, Arioch would need a regular source of income linked to it: In short, if any of you fans HAPPEN to be exceedingly wealthy millionaires who can spare a few coin to encourage Arioch to spend more time on the comic and less on commissions or other work, Please let us...

amusingly, we've discovered that actual meteorites are fairly common :p

And that a couple decent ones touch down every year, however most cities are small compared to the surrounding terrain. As our world becomes more urban, expect more meteorite stories,

I strongly suspect he was trying to not be 'sarcastic' and rather 'political' after all, you shouldn't go around saying you dislike the person who was chosen to protect you, even if you really don't. Finally, he just peeved the girl off, and now he's suddenly discovered he's going to be stuck with h...

Re: What was recovered from the wreck of the Bellarmine

A man doesn't have to smell a womans scent to show signs of attraction to her, because of past experiences and biological imperative a human male can become attracted to a woman by something as simple as a phonecall... For women I have no direct experience, but my understanding is for them similar s...

Re: What was recovered from the wreck of the Bellarmine

One thing that I fear which is relevant to Loroi culture and biochemistry is male based proximity effect. Among those species where access to males is restricted and limited, their bodies are typically programmed to react to the stimulus of male contact by becoming receptive, and then triggering ovu...

To your point about heat dissipation: your weapon systems would definitely share multiple heat sinking systems, but in all cases, your ship is going to glow in IR. Maybe even visibly, if you don't properly manage it. As you say, no matter the weapon system, heat will be a major problem in space. A ...

Regardings tameable animals? Zebra are close relatives to horses, yet we haven't ever bothered with large scale domestication. The reason? They really are NASTY animals, they aren't friendly and good natured like modern horses. As for rhinos? they would be unimpressed with their relatively low speed...
