Re: How humanity can affect the war, by turning the moon into a deathstar.

Ranges are fairly short in this setting (casaba howitzers would ostensibly be effective to millions of kilometers), its probably fair to say that beam weapons are under the same influence.

Re: How humanity can affect the war, by turning the moon into a deathstar.

I mean the point of fuel was raised, would it be easier for humans to figure out how to make Loroi fuel? I forget the name, but the weird exotic matter stuff that is meant to be a substitute for antimatter? Its not obvious to me how far humans are from being able to make something like that, as comp...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread

I suppose the notion then is that space is sparsely populated to the point that fighter patrol range is largely inadequate so therefore larger ships are needed.

Re: How humanity can affect the war, by turning the moon into a deathstar.

I agree with the notion that humanity probably wont be industrially useful before the end of the war. In my defense I was mainly mentioning that the Loroi could probably initiate the process at a relatively minimal cost to themselves, though I do agree probably the war wont still be happening in 20 ...

Re: How humanity can affect the war, by turning the moon into a deathstar.

In my opinion five years would be a really massively compressed timeframe for that, given the huge technological differential. I personally think you would be looking more at training a whole new generation of engineers before you were fully up to speed, say 5-10 years assuming we had alien engineer...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

I'd point out that the bugs don't necessarily seem all that surprised, and they would be the only ones having actually made contact with this hypothetical separate group of humans. They were interested in the bellarmine wreckage but if they are in contact with a completely different group of humans,...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Its kindof a good point that if humans are actually somehow a product of the weird precursors then there might be human presences other than the one on earth already. That does establish the possibility that there might be humans involved in the huge umiak breakthrough force.

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

I think the umiak lobotomites might have a stronger case than a human-only fleet, in terms of explaining how the umiaks bypassed the farseers. I could see using human thralls in some numbers, but I do agree with others that probably a human-only fleet would just wind up going rogue at some point. Es...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

I don't see that they would really have any issues indoctrinating cloned humans (unless they are just really bad at understanding non-bug psychology, which to be fair kindof seems like its the case). I feel like there is no way they have had time to do that yet, unless they were collecting humans a ...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

As soon as I first saw the Loroi I thought 'oh, alien space-babe empire', so I appreciate that you used that term. Yeah it seems like this is mainly a matter of trying to make sure one faction or the other doesn't exterminate humanity due to that being marginally preferable to letting them align wit...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Will the comic last long enough for humanity to matter? Kindof starting to strike me as a 'no' the more I think about it (particularly reviewing this thread and some of the ancillary stuff regarding human capabilities at this point).
