A blaster does the same amount of damage regardless of which species is pressing the trigger.
The Soia made Loroi, but Samuel Colt* made them equal.

*Replace with whoever made/discovered the blaster. Maybe Dr. Blaster named it after themselves?

Re: Merry Christmas 2023 everyone!

Generative AI trained on 2D images doesn't understand the context of a 3D world, which is why it's especially bad at symmetry and objects which pass in front of or behind each other. And it has no persistence of memory, so if you try to create a sequence of images (for animation or sequential art) ...

Re: Page: 225 - Krak, KRAK!! WHOKK!!!

If this thing was designed for combat, the brain and other vital organs are likely in the center of mass, perhaps nearer to the back than the front, giving them maximum amount of protection. However, that bit where the "neck" feeds into the body looks like a tempting target to me. Even if the shot d...

Re: Page 222: Take Care What You Choose For Cover

No wonder Loroi find Alex creepy. He must feel like a robot made of flesh to their senses. I remember watching star trek years ago and noting that when Data interacted with telepaths, they always treated him with friendly curiosity. Though that is in line with ST philosophy, in another setting woul...

Ciaphas Cain Identical story up to this point. Once on the Umiak ship, he is discovered and attacked by an armored trooper. While fleeing for his life, he accidentally trips over a cord, unplugging the anti-telepathy machine and causing a feedback loop that reveals the entire Umiak fleet. Hailed as ...

Re: Page 198: Beated!

IRL pilots will use the rudder of an aircraft to yaw back and forth a bit "wagging the tail" when in view of another plane, like waving to each other. This is sometimes done to indicate a problem when a radio is unavailable, or it can just be a friendly acknowledgement.

Maybe the holofirm us a cute-ified version of them, and they are really the Antarans? The resemblance is even closer with their later versions: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/masteroforion_gamepedia/images/9/91/MoO-CtS_Antaran.jpg I think it's no secret that the comic is at least inspired by the...

Re: Page 197: Playing games

Back on page 156 the historian advised Alex not to reveal its presence, but they seem to know about it here. Do the Loroi think the construct is not present and the the projector is suspect by association alone? Alex clearly not listening to the historian anyway, which is understandable but may have...

Re: Page 192: Sleep well, girls!

The transition between page 18 and 19 seems to suggest that Alex could sense Fireblade even before the mind probe. So why her? This is my guess: Assuming Loroi were indeed uplifted from humans, the most basic lizard-brain instincts (pain, fear, ect...) may have been left unaltered because why fix wh...

Re: Page 189: GO AWAY!

So is this memeory altered or did someone bring hard troops to these people's positions? Jardin is not watching a video playback, he's remote viewing a dream about a traumatic childhood event via a telepathic connection he has never experienced before. So it's likely not a 1:1 recounting of a parti...

Re: Beards?

Guys you need to pay attention to the author better. Arioch has explained repeatedly that there is no romantic pair bonding in Loroi culture- there is no prohibition against lesbian intercourse and what we would call a male-female romance is considered to be a form of insanity. So the idea of Loroi ...

Re: Beards?

Loroi females on the other hand are fully capable of growing luxurious facial hair. Sadly, these have had to be removed through similar means and for similar reasons to the humans. Another terrible sacrifice for the war.

Re: This is why every AI needs the Three Laws of Robotics

Oh yeah, I loved that Freefall arc. And also how following orders of Humans can result in desaster (the arc about the one robot helping one single human seizing all assets owned by robots, thus concentrating nearly all of that solar systems economy in one person's hand). And that while no Human com...

Warmth and humidity. Something like a rainforest maybe? That begs the question of how people dress on Perrin.
I think its more a comment on the ship getting cold, remember the life support has been turned down to bare minimum to avoid detection.

Re: 174-175: Got milk?

(Hi! long time reader, first-time poster) If its not too specific, could you talk about about how the Loroi developed from post-fall hunter gatherers without domesticated animals, without a complete ecosystem? Animals are not just for meat, milk, and leather, but also labor and transportation, among...
