Re: 173: A Form of Warning or Challenge
And given how far away his homeworld is expected to be, its not like he can report in on anything he learns for quite some time.

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
How often would the AI ships have to come back? There is no FTL radio communications type systems here. Or at least none that can get information between stars within a usable timeframe. The human ships would also need to come home to report in, but it be more expected for a human crewed ship to com...

Re: Miscellaneous Umiak/misc. races question-and-answer thre
Hopefully not bullets. Things that can make holes in a starship are not something you want to be using if you want to keep it. Energy weapons that won't put a hole in the bulkhead are ideal. Melee weapons maybe also be useful in such close quarters, though the Loroi ships appear to have large hallwa...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
Good point, well put. I can imagine people leaving Earth to escape political correctness and the continual social drift towards left wing values. Though I can also see radicals like communists and fascists leaving Earth to set up colonies where they won't be interfered with and can work with likemi...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Unless of course it turns out that the Loroi also have symbiotic microorganisms living within them, and that's who the Soia really are, and they're what makes telepathy possible, as they communicate the will of the Force. No wait, that's midichlorians, not mitochondria. That would explain a lot.......

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
More worried about all the spam and subliminal advertising that would get dumped past your mental ad blockers and defense programs. Plus tracking not only your movements, but potentially what you think about. Direct targeted adverts to what you are randomly thinking about at the moment. Or calling t...

Re: How to Make Mecha Work in a realish setting
The old EU has some sort of Imperial Force Aura scanner to check for Force Sensitives and if they were more Light or Dark Side auras. The New Republic found one some time after Endor and Luke started using it to find people suitable for his new Jedi Academy. Midichlorian allow for a similar, though ...

Re: It's that time again: Rise of Skywalker
The first Clone Wars cartoon came out between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. This battle came out as a lead up to Revenge of the Sith coming out. (This cartoon did a lot of over the top things since it was in the spirit of Samurai Jack) For the hyperspace route, it was one that went t...

Re: How to Make Mecha Work in a realish setting
The necessity to right angle your mech out of the path of incoming 20mm fire and pull out non-conventional weapons to be able to beat an airborne fighter highlights the weaknesses of a mech in today's battlefield. Gasaraki was pretty realistic in how they approached near-future technology. I have t...

Re: How to Make Mecha Work in a realish setting
My preference are the regular type "Arm Slaves" from the anime Full Metal Panic. Mainly because they start out as almost a plausible idea using existing 1980/90 era technology before getting into the more sci-fi related techs. That and their weaponry are mostly redesigned real world weapons repurpos...

Re: It's that time again: Rise of Skywalker
The Clone Wars did a Seven Samurai type episode itself in about 20 minutes. They had three Jedi and a band of bounty hunters against pirates, but it worked.
