Re: Page 154: Run attachment? Y/N
So... a Historian (assumed) TL12 computer (AI-capable one) making short work of a Human TL 9 pad? I believe it to be a safe bet. Very safe bet, if we compare the ordinary TL 7 computers we're using to write on this forum to what was available at TL 4. If memory serves me, the common computing devic...

Re: Page 153: You've got Mail!
(Hell, in western Germany, Niederrhein region, there's even a saying that originates from unsollicited advertisements of a sexual nature near battlefields. "Mach keine Fisimatenten!") Sidenote - It seems as if the etymology of the term is marching on, though: Wikipedia | Fisimatenten . Shows that l...

Re: Page 151 Discussion: "We will wait, Outsider"
And I'm not sure artificial wombs will be viable at this level of technology. The human reproductive system is an incredibly complex mechanism that I think would be very difficult and expensive to replicate artificially. Unless you use people parts for it... which gets into murky ethical territory....

Re: How do you feel about page buffers?
(Dilbert, Garfield [...]) Heh, Dilbert will end (according to the words of its author) exactly the same way that Peanuts ended: A few days before Scott Adams will venture into the great beyond. As for Garfield, I presume not even the death of Jim Davis will be able to end it. Cats and their 9 lives...

Re: Page 150 Discussion "Well, I haven't !"
I know, but I tried to keep this knowledge out, avoiding spoilers about future pages... It's part of respectful behaviour. No patreon-spoilers here anyway, as it is from the free Work-In-Progress thread. :) http://www.well-of-souls.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=33763#p33763 That said: I am not implyin...

Re: How do you feel about page buffers?
I can only say: Definitely keep a buffer. Reliability is an extremely important thing in audience retention. If you have a buffer, steady-trickle is much better than "all-at-once" mode -- unless you don't particularly care about the growth/retention of your audience. Chaotic releases (as you current...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
Overall, Nietzche's philosophy runs into the same problems that most holistic philosophies, and maximizers in general, run into in attempting to use a single tool to solve all moral problems. If you follow Kant, that is basically the only way you can trust something to be true and moral. Kant's cat...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
It is more akin to asking: "If you are going to blow your brains out anyway, why not make sure that you do it properly?" I'm afraid your analogy has broken down. People aren't choosing to blow their own brains out. Don't worry, I just hijacked Arioch's rephrasing of my analogy used to breach access...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
Starting from this realization, he asked himself: If the eventual result is the no-longer-human anyway, why not aim for the super -human? This is kind of like saying, "You're going to die someday anyway, so why not just blow your own brains out now and get it over with?" Not quite. It is more akin ...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche would disagree with you there. He might, if he was alive, but he was also kind of crazy. While he usually gets a worse reputation than he deserves, the truth is that he also was a child of his times. Plenty of things from back then sound crazy today. Doesn't mean it was ...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
Finally, the wisdom of creating a new species to replace your current one has always escaped me. There is a powerful biological drive to perpetuate one's own species; why would people be eager to commit species suicide by artificially creating a "better" new one? Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche would d...

So, to be poetic and a bit liberal about it (like our dear friend Alex is): The lord of the house, a mighty warrior, armored with determination, bringer of good wine and mead. All lies and slander, as usual. :D You mean: The wrecker of house with bravery from bottle? ;) What is to most a drunkard, ...

Re: What does YOUR Name Mean?
In my case it is: Son of Mars / Soldier / Warrior House + Mighty/Lord Determination + Helmet or "equipped with" Tailor or Beer/Wine Transporter So, to be poetic and a bit liberal about it (like our dear friend Alex is): The lord of the house, a mighty warrior, armored with determination, bringer of ...
