Wow, considering the lag from the sun to the earth is ~8:20, that system is tiny.

Re: Sci-Fi/Space Opera Shows (Current or Upcoming) On Stream

I loved the concept of Dark Matter, but the execution was... just painful, especially when Firefly exists. It seemed like they were trying too hard to copy the tropes of Firefly without any real substance of their own.

Re: Page 131: The one in which we learn how Loroi swear

For what it's worth, I think Clearbrook 's comment on extinct nations is referring to the Loroi. If they get overrun, what need do they have of embassies? As to the fate of Highland-7 , unless they're going to run silent or try to jump on an anchored (or enemy) ship, the Law of Conservation of Chara...

Re: Sci-Fi/Space Opera Shows (Current or Upcoming) On Stream

AIDS is better Star Trek than STD. I watched the first three episodes of Knights of Sidonia, and I don't even remember what happened or why I stopped watching it. It seems like most anime these days is identically boring. Everything must be set in some analogue of high school, including science fic...

Resurrecting this because the last few comic pages have been an inspiration. ShadowDragon8685, care to continue it? Alex was hungry. Not hungry enough to risk waking his companions, but just enough make sleep a difficult proposition, no matter how tired he felt. He looked about the dim crew bay on t...

(Also, human women talk less than human men in professional settings, so I don't know how that supports the conclusion.) I don't know what professional settings you've been in, but that certainly hasn't been my experience, lol. Quite the opposite, in fact. I'm not sure she can keep that thoug...

Re: Sci-Fi/Space Opera Shows (Current or Upcoming) On Stream

Honestly, if you don't hate the medium, I would recommend embracing anime. What originally brought me to it was the fact that I could get truly imaginative science fiction and fantasy that was just not present in western media.

Knights of Sidonia is a good place to start on Netflix.

Re: Page 130: Gotta Go Fast

You know, if there is any non-creative grunt work that can be distributed out to the fans to improve the speed of updates, I'm sure some of us would be willing to help. I think I remember you saying that the 3D modelling was one of the biggest time-sinks. Would it be possible to crowd source some o...

Re: Page 130: Gotta Go Fast

I don't have any "plans" to change the format; I merely said that I wouldn't consider changing it before the end of chapter 2, in the worst case scenario. There is reason at present to be optimistic about the prospects for a productive 2018. If we ever got weekly updates on a regular basis, I would...

Here's a depressing thought... what if Alex and company get rolled up by the Umiak?

Never thought the situation would take that vector, but it's worth considering.

Re: Page 130: Gotta Go Fast

My prediction, and I will laugh my ass off if it comes true, is that the Loroi Navy is screwed. They'll have to fall back to a smaller front and end up cut off from their allies, effectively entering into a seige situation around their core systems. Cut off, the main characters end up having to tru...

Re: When did you join the forums /start reading Outsider?

You can see when people joined right under their screen name on any post they make. : ) I didn't join the forums until *years* after I started reading the comics. I was a huge fan of MoO II and was always disappointed how little fan work was done around it (which was unsurprising, given the year it...

Re: When did you join the forums /start reading Outsider?

Near the beginning of Chapter 2 if I remember correctly. So jarring to go from page to page only for the hard stop and the LONG wait.

hi hi Sooo... Is it still too late to divert to one of the uninhabited planets and try to hide in a rock crevice or something? I had an inkling... way back on page 105... that the Highland 7 might end up crash-landing somewhere and that Alex would be spending far more time with his fellow passenger...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Here's a thought... If there was such a thing as a non-Loroi telepath, be it the result of a rare genetic fluke or an artificially-induced trait, would a Loroi be able to understand them? Or, would the inherent difference in thought/brain structure render telepathic communication unintelligible, lik...

Re: Page 129: ¨Deep Jump

From the Insider, a deep jump is a very risky move. I find it interesting that the Umiak knew ahead of time that such a jump would be needed to cut off redeployment of Loroi forces *inside* the system. Either: a) the move was pre-planned based on a guess as to the position of Loroi forces from their...

Yeah, the big missiles being loaded into the shuttle bay caught my eye as well. I hadn't realised they were that big, but since they are, I'd expect VLS cells or something. Also, recycling spotted! :D http://www.well-of-souls.com/temp/81_arclight2.jpg If it means we get pages out faster, I'm fine w...

Re: Homeworld: Cataclysm (Emergence) Rerelease

My take was this: The original was a masterpiece, but you needed a very particular fleet build to do well on certain levels. If you didn't get enough resources, or you lost too many ships two levels previous to your current one, you had to go all the way back and re-play it (better) to have a shot. ...

Re: Homeworld: Cataclysm (Emergence) Rerelease

As much as I loved the original, Cataclysm put in a lot of anti-frustration features that the made the gameplay far more enjoyable and approachable. Wish 2 hadn't sunk the series.
