Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
hi hi Honest question: when you say "our culture," which culture are you referring to specifically? Eastern US atheistic liberal? West Coast Canadian hipster? North Brazil inner city? Meiji era upper class Japan? A fair question. I can't really draw clear lines, but 'western' is probably the genera...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
In searching back before posting the initial question, I found this passage First do loroi wear make up. There have been times and places in which it has been considered fashionable for certain segments of the population to wear makeup. In archaic times, some tribal cultures donned warpaint or body ...

Perhaps, but Beryl has a pretty similar skin tone. I went looking for a good comparison in the same lighting conditions, and ended up on page 64. http://i.imgur.com/xWFXxOu.png Skin tone swatches. On the right, Beryl, on the left, Temp, and inset, the color of the unshaded portions of their lower li...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Hm. All the linked pages of late made me notice something about Tempo. Her lips are much bluer than the other Loroi, especially in comparison to the rest of her face. Is lipstick in the Loroi spy's bag of tricks, or is this just a quirk of character design?

Re: KSP 1.0
Been giving 1.0 a spin, and it's a pretty nice step up. I'm going to have to hunt down current versions of some of the mods I was playing with last time though... setting up a communications network is surprisingly compelling. I think the career mode might be fun with rewards set up to 120% of their...

Re: The "Real Aerospace" Thread
I'm still extremely skeptical. The linked forum thread is... tricky to pick through because the math and physics involved, but doesn't seem to be entirely glowing of the experimental methods. Nobody's outright built and run their own test rig, which is what would actually be needed for falsification...

I'm not sure where it's said if anywhere in the insider, but I recall Stillstorm's dagger being a symbol of station or rank.

It's not exactly super highbrow hard sci-fi, sure, but on a pulpy action movie level everything worked for me, performances especially. So yes.

I don't know about the rest of them, but Ford was still pretty credible recently in Cowboys vs Aliens.

Re: I sense something. Something I've not felt since...
I have trouble finding fault with RotJ, possibly because I was so young when I first saw it. I can see why people have problems with the things they do, but at the very least all the character stuff seems very solid to this day. That trailer works perfectly fine to me, with the weakest points in my ...

Dragoongfa: Telepathy is a double-edged sword when it comes to mental illness. On the one hand, telepathy provides superior tools both to diagnose and to treat mental disorders, from developmental problems, to behavioral disorders, psychoses, and dementia due to aging. On the other hand, when such d...

Re: Master of Orion 2 (and Space Strategy Games Discussion)
I'm up to my eyeballs in work at the moment, so Outsider has to be my top "free time" priority. If there is a clear value to Homeworld Shipyard updates, eventually I will get around to it. I've been putting some time into a program that makes a shipyards-inspired site from Homeworld 2 data files, w...

Re: Master of Orion 2 (and Space Strategy Games Discussion)
Yeah, my take on it so far is that it's a very pretty game, and a very excellent remaster of Homeworld 2, but a very shoddy one of Homeworld 1. Perhaps they were too married to the idea of combined multiplayer? Or perhaps they simply didn't have the resources to see it through.

My god. Neither the VFX nor the tech fluff hold up to inspection in either franchise if you consider more than a few handpicked examples.

An interesting option for someone with sufficient biotech is the binary plague, two pathogens that are by themselves harmless, possibly even beneficial, and would spread throughout the target population without ever killing anyone. If they both infect the same individual they then become extremely l...

Re: What is better not offer to Loroi
I don't think Loroi are made for simple labor, as physically it seems like the Barsam would probably be better. I don't think they're meant for high skill roles like engineers or architects, like dragoongfa suggested earlier, due to their saddling with a really unwieldy numeral system that seems tai...
