Re: What to Do with Jardin (Fan Fic)
So I guess Alex hasn't had a reason to explain the idea of safe sex in those five years, eh?Acting on such an impulse would be inadvisable at best, doubly so now that we know that human males are apparently capable of impregnating us.

Re: Outsider in Stellaris.
Um, be mindful: Stellaris does not seem to like files that have been converted to PNG and back to DDS. I went through some trouble with that trying to help a friend make a private modification of the fox portraits dimorphism mod. She was using photoshop and had converted filetypes, and it went all ...

Re: Outsider in Stellaris.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/896078/loroimod_images.zip all the human female portrait images pre-converted to png. I'm willing to handle conversion and insertion of new images into the game, but I can't promise speed for it. Arioch, do you have objection to me making what I have in it's curre...

Re: Outsider in Stellaris.
http://i.imgur.com/vEg4bkS.jpg Hacking existing texture portraits isn't impossible, but it's proving slightly non-trivial. Still, getting somewhere. EDIT: http://i.imgur.com/zbjTWjt.jpg Much better. Spicing up the hair colors should be possible too, but more work. Not sure I'm going to bother with ...

Re: Outsider in Stellaris.
I'm tinkering with a little namelist and possibly portraits(modified human portraits rather than lifted from the comic or new drawn.). Feeding portions of the lexicon into a combining script has given me enough names to cover every survivor of Kharak and then some(over 600,000). It remains to be see...

Homeworld Remastered 2.0
In case it didn't reach anyone here by other channels, the long promised big patch for Homeworld Remastered finally came out. Lots of cool things about it, the patch notes are a bit low on detail in some areas but still give a good idea what's in it. The headliners are formations and tactics that no...

Re: Confederations
The Union had about 22 million people, 21.5 million of whom were free. The CSA had about 9 million people, 5.5 million of whom were free. So yeah, the North had a 5 to 2 advantage in population overall, and about a 4 to 1 advantage in free people. As to the industrial advantage, the North had about...

Re: Outsider in Stellaris.
I plan on getting it, and odd are I'll do something like this, but I haven't gone in depth in reading prerelease stuff enough to understand all these mechanics ahead of time. Hell, as a paradox game I'm assuming I won't understand most of the mechanics even when I'm playing it.

Confederations
The conversation in the Pale Horse thread about confederations has the potential to be quite interesting, and I earnestly would enjoy learning more about it. Rather than continuing it in an only slightly related thread, I thought perhaps we could start a little fresh here. From some cursory research...

Re: [Fan Fiction] The pale horse (Updated: 04/25/2016)
If you're only going to discuss poli-sci matters with people who have or are perusing a degree in it, I would bet you'd need to stop discussing it altogether on these forums. I could be wrong of course, but at the least it'd greatly cut down your list of conversational partners. Edit: Tangentially, ...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
If I recall correctly, long and elaborate hair is considered a status symbol, connected to seniority. Stillstorm cut her hair in the recent past following a defeat as a sign of shame or morning. I think Arioch mentioned once that civilian fashion might be different.

Re: Master of Orion
That is accurate. Not a game-killer for me, and in the case of real time probably preferred. In my time playing MoO2, large battles became a huge choreSuederwind wrote:I have read some reviews on steam that were less than favorable. Are there really starlanes and no turn based combat now?.

Re: Master of Orion
IIRC the three advisers map decently onto Beryl, Tempo, and Fireblade, in color palette at the very least. As for the new game, the systems I'd like to see successors to are different enough on a fundamental level to what's going on in it that I very much doubt we'll see significant trend towards th...

Re: Master of Orion
I went ahead and sprung for the early access after some friends with a pretty high bar for 4Xs bought it and didn't hate it. And I have to agree with that, I don't hate it. It doesn't bring back the things about MoO1 I really wish someone would give a modern retread, but it plays pretty well, looks ...

Re: Outsider Guest Art
The laser ring isn't remotely a hard sci-fi concept, no. The suit is, and a large part of the motivation behind making that image was producing an accurate illustration of the idea. Best-fit art usually had a few qualities that are counter to how it should look. As for the ring, even if you could po...

Re: Outsider Guest Art
This thread popping up again makes me realize I never provided an answer to the reference trivia, oops. The first reference is to Vandread, an anime I would recommend to any fan of outsider, where a character had a laser ring sidearm . Fully automatic laser knuckles also appeared, I believe. The sec...

Glad to have you back Razor, life happens. Trade, frontier, and improving relations all sound good to me. I still want a creche and a sci annex, but I'm not prepared to do math to those desires.

Re: [Fan Fiction] Looking forward to the Mirror
@Greyhome: That's possible, but it really seems like a situation that could arise even if that wasn't the Soia's intent. @Krulle: Hm, it seems that what I meant to say isn't... really in my post. I'll try again. What I find improbable is not that evolution can produce novelty, but that they can pres...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Looking forward to the Mirror
I'm having trouble understanding 1) as well, but it seems to be questioning why the Loroi should look so human, and rejecting the rule of cool as a reason. So going from that assumption... I think the creation of the Loroi most likely went something along these lines. The Soia are very good at bioen...
