Is there a chat/any interest in a chat?
I've just started to wonder; is there some kind of official/unofficial IRC/Discord/other chat set-up for the frequenters of this forum?

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Someone must have invented one at some point, but I don't imagine them being very popular. There's always gonna be some adrenaline junkie who loves the damn things though, right? Just like there's always gonna be some adventurer who just has to climb every mountain and ford every river. Can the Uns...

Re: What to Do with Jardin (Fan Fic)
Been awhile. Sorry, stuff kept coming up. Hope you're in the mood for some cutlery porn. =================== I'm not sure what I was expecting... But wow. Alexander Jardin blinked as he found himself standing just within the commander's cabin on the war cruiser Swiftwind . Not nearly as large as tha...

Teidar powered carriages? Got to use that telekinesis for something useful... Joke aside, a lot stuff can be done differently if you have access to people that can essentially use magic. Remember that these powers do not use a finite mana supply like in some roleplaying games, they essent...

I'd presume that jetbikes were invented after motorbikes, which were invented after bicycles, which were invented after velocipedes.Carl Miller wrote:Hopefully jetbikes. :3

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Do the Loroi have/have developed bicycles/motorbikes/jetbikes? They never had riding beasts the way we had horses (at least, no Loroi on any of the planets we're familiar with have had,) so the riding posture wouldn't have been ingrained into them. Would they still have developed two-wheeled transpo...

Re: Homeworld Remastered 2.0
Underlined bit is what I consider to be the problem; if the player perceives that failure is inevitable, they have lost all incentive to play. If there's no possibility for a turnaround, why even continue? Just concede defeat; it's not like your homeworld is literally on the line, so you may as wel...

Re: Homeworld Remastered 2.0
I don't think this is really necessary; falling behind is the main mode of failure in XCOM. XCOM2 provides some nice features that give you additional options when you're starting to fall behind (such as being able to purchase experienced soldiers in the later game), or end the game when you've fal...

Re: Homeworld Remastered 2.0
The problem with auto-scaling enemy forces is that it makes player power progression meaningless. If there's no advantage to building more ships, why would you? It can generate situations (like I cited above with HW mission 3,) where doing too well actually makes things far harder than it should be...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Did the Loroi (of Deinar specifically, if you have written it in such detail,) have any kind of "legendary" blades the way we had (the original) Damascus Steel blades, or legendary swordsmiths such as Gorō Nyūdō Masamune? Probably. Nice. Also, completely randomly, just how tough are Loroi ord...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
I guess Tempo's phrasing could lead one to this conclusion, but I'd like to point out that nowhere in Tempo's speech does she say that the Loroi fired first . Doesn't she say that she does not know who fired first? Or at least, that's what I got from Page 109 ; that everyone involved is dead, and t...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
However, Insider says that Historians plasmathrower has a different focus mechanism. Plus, Loroi PPC also obtained from Historians (and directly, actually) and its color - blue. Sure, but if the Historians were trying to play Umiak and Loroi off of each other - which is a great move in their positi...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
There is the possibility of Kikitik-27's forces not know of it but considering the decentralized nature of the Hierarchy it is more than probable that Bellarmine run into something that an other command of the Hierarchy didn't want to become known. Entirely possible, but considering the almost susp...

Telling her that Stillstorm has offered herself to discipline her wayward daughter, putting the brat under her "care" in the Tempest . The Loroi equivalent of "I'm tellling your mom" The problem with that is that Opalstorm still believes she behaved correctly. She would call the bluff, fully ...

Indeed, I'm just saying, the same levers that would work on the Fragile Twins or Mountain Mantle won't necessarily work on Opalstorm.Krulle wrote:Diral, then.

Re: What to Do with Jardin (Fan Fic)
So, Opalstorm will, for now, not be transferred under Alex' command? Aww, I wanted to see the tantrum she would have thrown. And the refusal by Alexander, because Opalstorm would be very detrimental to his crews morale. Well, even on a ship there are toilet cleaning duties and similar. If she does ...

Re: Homeworld Remastered 2.0
Scaling usually goes sour, but it does exist for a reason, to try to make your current mastery of the game always relevant, regardless of how good or bad you were doing earlier. Even if that's a good idea, the systems to do it are usually pretty damn flawed, unfortunately. Homeworld 1 actually had ...
