Re: Page 108 & 109 Discussion

A backdoor that is swamped by an invasion army. Not really? The Umiak rolled over the Orgus pretty quick IIRC, I doubt there's a significant naval force left behind. Yet it is an invasion and scout army. Expansionistic, and set on expanding the Umiak territory in that direction. I doubt that they a...

Re: Page 108 & 109 Discussio

The Umiak already know about the Bellarmine, AKA "The [Object In Question]." Do you really think Kikitik isn't going to report the mystery wreckage and how interested the Loroi were in it? Their intel may not be great, but the sudden appearance of a new race in the Union is something no one is goin...

Maps. We have our own region scouted and we probably have the Orgus's nav computer data as well, which gives a backdoor into Umiak territory.

Re: Page 108 & 109 Discussion

How many times has humanity expanded to a new planet and attempted to wipe out all life there? The answer would be none. Yet. And I agree that we (Humanity) should take the impossible decision and decide to empty large swaths of land from all Humans. For the same reason I advocate a gigantic shift ...

Yet I've read quite a few books where the narrative was misleading using this tactic. In the end the "unsocial, bullying, and aggressive bugs" were the good guys....

It is what is captivating me in this story too... :)

Umiak. Or, depending on the local dialect, Loroi.

i am less concerned in her direct approach to securing the carrier of the information she needs. But she is looking forward to the interrogation in a manner that makes my hairs stand up. (which is not a bad thing, as this is just a story. And she really hates Umiak. More than the rest of all Loroi t...

Re: System Shock 3

Personally I am not interested in FirstPersonShooters at all.

I prefer strategy games (CIV, MoO,...), or adventure games (specifically StarControl / The Ur-Quan Masters).

I still like it very much!

The price paid is rising, will the attained price be worth it?
But then, Humanities survival is at stake! What are a few soldier's lifes compared to that?

Any planet with a significant population/culture will use its own calendar. Shipboard crews live on a schedule that has nothing to do with any calendar. The "standard" calendar is mainly a point of reference, for which weeks and months are irrelevant. Any sufficiently large culture will retain its ...

When waiting for lunch appointments, a lot of my colleagues stand around fixed on their screens. I always ask them if I can help them. The building does not allow GPS signals in, but if t...

And exactly that is what Mizol are trained in: speaking the truth, yet in a manner that makes you believe something which is not the full truth.

Anyway: good question, Alex. I'm looking forward to the next page with a wall of text.
