I don't post here anymore, but I still regularly check and read Outsider.
I was around when the first incarnation of the forums were extant, and I think my first "last page" was 50, which I believe dates to 2006.

Re: OUTSIDER complaints
Is this the thread to give Arioch encouragement? ;) I've been here since forever (though not as long as Mr Bojangles or Codius, if we're counting...), and while I don't post on the forums at all anymore, I still check Outsider regularly and I will continue to do so. I hope that Stars in Shadow does ...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread
Lots of happy endings for the Loroi, no doubt.Arioch wrote:Then she marshaled an army of sea-spirits and marched on her former home, killing pretty much everyone.
I imagine the Loroi might have a lot to say about hubris in their legends, but that's just a guess.

Re: Master of Orion 2 (and Space Strategy Games Discussion)
Yeah, the campaign looks to be more of a free form open-world style framework, and that generally doesn't work too well with a strong central narrative.

Re: Master of Orion 2 (and Space Strategy Games Discussion)
A Homeworld-styled RTS game called "Contact Vector" is currently up for kickstarter. Their brief has a lot of interesting and even exciting ideas that would, I think, fit this kind of game very well. They are, however, asking for £85,000 in order to fund it. For such a niche market I really don't se...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
I think the disconnect lies in the difference between a "bridge" and a "CIC." Arioch, obviously, is the final authority, but I believe that Terran vessels follow the same architecture that our own naval warships do: the bridge is an observation point, while the CIC is a hardened space where the vess...

Re: HOMEWORLD REMASTERED
SotS 2—once they got it working, anyway—just overwhelmed me. There was too much going on for me to take it all in, and I much preferred the original.
—and Homeworld 2's story was just a re-hash of the original anyway, so you didn't miss much.

Re: HOMEWORLD REMASTERED
I remember hearing about that. I guess I'm having trouble connecting "Homeworld" with what I saw of "Shipbreakers," but I suppose it has potential. Still, it's good to know that the old art director is at the helm and that they're working on additional projects. It's been a while since there was a s...

Re: HOMEWORLD REMASTERED
The original was always gorgeous, and though I'm sure they'll maintain the aesthetic, I am somewhat disappointed that this is all they've chosen to do with the franchise. My hope is that this is simply the first move in a revitalization campaign: a way to build interest and currency for the brand be...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread
That seems unlikely at this point. We still don't know if what Kikitik said to Stillstorm is true—he may himself be operating under certain orders based on presupposed conditions that are currently "true" for him, but that are not actually occurring for one reason or another. Personally, I find sure...

Re: What if...?
In all seriousness, though, I'm not really sure what you're asking. In the two and a half centuries you're postulating, the whole shape of the galaxy may be vastly different from what it is now: the Loroi and the Umiak may no longer exist, or one may have wiped out the other and has acceded to domin...

Re: A regular update schedule
So I guess you're the real old-timer around here, aren't you? :D But that's my point: Outsider is good, and the fact that it doesn't have a regular update schedule is just the way it is and the way it has been since it started. And, as Arioch has mentioned before, when Outsider started, having a reg...
