*Although the Ghost Ship has two salvage points, like most derelicts, it can't be salvaged.

This vessel was discovered as part of a group of derelicts by the Mothership in a region of space know as the Sea of Lost Souls. When the unexpected encounter interrupted the normal process of the Mothership's hyperspace jump, a team consisting of a pair of frigates and a squadron of fighters was sent to investigate. It quickly became clear that this was no ordinary ship graveyard, as the derelict vessels powered up and attacked; inexplicably, Fleet Command also lost control of the two frigates she had sent. The fighter escort, under sudden attack from a Taiidan missile destroyer though to be inactive and adrift, escaped with heavy losses.

Fleet Intelligence soon determined that the large alien 'ghost ship' at the center of the group was generating some sort of control field that could direct the other ships as well as capture any Kushan capital ships sent into the field area. Reluctant to leave the captured crews of the two frigates, Fleet Command marshaled every strike craft available to her, and sent them against the source of the alien control field. Scouts and interceptors engaged and distracted the attendant destroyers and frigates while the Kushan bombers, corvettes and defenders pounded the ghost ship. Though their weapons had a minimal effect on the alien vessel, each strike caused a tiny fluctuation in the control field. The strike force was eventually able to disable the control field, at which point salvage teams were able to board and capture the derelict vessels, including the Skaal Fa-class destroyer, a Kudaark frigate, as well as two Kadesh-design multi-beam frigates.

The science team sent to the ghost ship found it to be a lifeless, automated derelict. However, while the field was up, Fleet Intelligence was able to analyze the alien control system. Based on this technology, Research Division was able to develop plans for gravity warping technology based on the alien control field, that led to the development of the "Trapper" gravity well generator. Due to time constraints and impending attack from Taiidan forces, the derelict was not further investigated.

Recently, a scientific expedition has been sent to further investigate this mysterious relic. When the team arrived at the ship several computer data banks had been severely damaged and repair work is currently underway. It is hoped that once we have access to the computers we will be able to find out more about the ghost ship's builders and its original purpose.
