Page 95: I'd rarely EVER pass up a chance to annoy Callan...

Post by Absalom »

Fun fact: this subject almost ended in "bra".

Well, looks like Jardin not shooting himself in the foot isn't something he saves for the presence of hot blue women, encouraging. Unfortunately, we know he did something, and probably aboard the Bellarmine. As he starts to settle in, then we'll probably see how well he'll do long-term.

Has Mazey been mentioned before? I normally don't worry about the details, but the name seems familiar.

Alex is good at thinking on his feet. Good at making an impression. It's really nice to see more of who he was before the events in the prologue. I like this background we're getting.

Ah shit. I was just totally spacing out and accidentally clicked on that spambot's link (not quoting for obvious reasons). I'm not terribly literate when it comes to trojans / spyware / etc, but I have firefox+noscript. I closed out of the page immediately after it opened. Do I have anything to be worried about?

Only if you actually saw the website. They're uploading subliminal messages to buy knock-off drugs right into your brain, now.

hi hi

So, any bets on whether or not this is the end of the flashback? I personally thought it has been pretty awesome, especially this page where we start to get to the heart of the matter.

Seeing Captain Hamilton's responses, its clear that the scout corps picked an excellent person. His professionalism is a stark contrast to the gamesmanship we saw from the captains of the Black Razor and Tsunami. Even though he would have enjoyed angering an apparent rival within the ranks, he still looks at matters from the other point of view and doesn't care so much about saving face that he cannot accept a good point.

And Alex, we see that he really does have a good understanding of what is at stake, and not just from an abstract point of view. He's well aware of the Terran fleet's capabilities, and he knew how likely they were to be outmatched. And we see that he's not afraid to speak his mind, no matter who he's talking to. A trait that will probably serve him well in the midst of the Loroi, for whom lies are a sign of a serious aggression.

Overall, an excellent page. :)

Looking at the heavy cruiser I have a sudden bout of nostalgia and the urge to replay Homeworld again.

Its no secret one of the sources of inspiration for some of the outsider designs was Homeworld and work from some of the Relic artists. This just brings back some good memories of the game and the community. Beyond a couple of skirmish games I've not touched Homeworld since 2008 after the Activision-Blizzard merger (vivendi games) also ate up Sierra.

a balanced point of view by Capt Hamilton, which demonstrates a realist point of view and thinking. But what I like about this moment is that Hamilton is putting the cards on the table, making Alex realized where he could be doing some good; as any good mentor, his opening up a potential students options, not limiting them. To me that speaks of why Hamilton became a legend. I wish their was in depth character section in the insider section about most of the characters, that could include back story that adds to each of the characters.

hehe, a good contrast with alex own admission that he speaking his mind too often. Its shows a mature young man, beneath snarky exterior.

Very nice page, Arioch. I like the subtle hinting of Alex's potential.

Nah. You mean the "when-comes-the-next-page"-questions or the "hope-the-next-page-comes-soooon"-newbies.

I have to say, I love the fact that we finally get to see a human military vessel. Loving the design on it.

Er ... it's "knock on wood" to deter evil; "rub this wood" has completely different connotations.
