Nobody says that this is impossible at all.

It will just be a very rare exception. Much more often (and more likely) there will be short, casual meetings that are comfortable enough and familiar to both.

Re: Loroi Women Versus Human Women... As Wives

I ask because there have been cases where women were allergic to semen, and had to take allergy mitigation treatment before considering marriage or motherhood.  How much worse would it be for a Loroi/Terran mixed couple, since the fluids in question also contain proteins and other organic substance...

Re: Loroi Women Versus Human Women... As Wives

So if you are allergic to vanilla it's game over man... no space elf wife for you. I joke.. but if they smell like smoky vanilla... Well, as if in the genital secretions LITERALLY there is nothing but water, some sugars and ... well, sperm. In women, it is more difficult, but in general, the...

Re: Loroi Women Versus Human Women... As Wives

I have a question that only Arioch may be able to answer. It has been established that some Loroi foods -- not just Perrein cuisine -- may be toxic to Terrans.  Someone also claimed that capsaicin may be fatal to Loroi.  This implies incompatible biochemistries between Loroi and Terrans. So, my que...

Russian tea is a treat. Although most orient teas are also toothaches.
Russian tea can be divided into two categories: very strong without sugar and very strong and very sweet :D

Re: Loroi Women Versus Human Women... As Wives

The problem is not that humans do not "hear" Loroi, but that Loroi does not "hear" humans. From the point of view of humans with loroi, everything is ok, because loroi are so similar to us that we read their body language without any preparation and correctly, which is the most important thing. But ...

Re: Loroi Trade translation request general

I also don't understand the comparison of Russian and Japanese cuisine. In Russian, unlike in Japanese, honey was actively and widely used, and somewhere since the 18th century sugar has actively appeared on the menu, therefore in our traditional cuisine there are quite a lot of quite sweet dishes a...

Re: Loroi Women Versus Human Women... As Wives

Personally, I do not see how any close relationship between humans and loroi can develop without at least partial overcoming of the anti-telepathic barrier. On the one hand, for Loroi sanzai, this is everything, the alpha and omega of any relationship, and above all social. Of course, they are not a...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Notes and discussion for "A sword that wields itself"

Nope, the fact is that the words "collectivist" and "socialist", which Jim uses to describe the Umiak society, in the countries of the former Soviet Union are closely associated with communism, and the further from the collapse of the Union, the less with the real state construction, and more - with...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Notes and discussion for "A sword that wields itself"

As a person who has lived all his life in the post-Soviet space, I can responsibly declare that Loroi are just as similar to Russians as they are to Germans or Americans. Well, in spirit, of course. Frankly speaking, for reasons that are obscure for a person who has carefully read the Insider, a con...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Notes and discussion for "A sword that wields itself"

Half-Life is too old to run on 23rd century hardware, and HL3 is still not released yet. :( Well, no one ruled out remakes and banal remasters. Black Mesa is a very good example, as for me, and Alyx clearly says that the studio, in principle, do not give a damn about the universe, and the experimen...

Re: [Fan Fiction] Notes and discussion for "A sword that wields itself"

Interestingly, people gave Loroi to play all sorts of VR like the Ghost of Tsushima. Why not give them something like Half Life? Well, you know, Alex or Black Mesa... Headcrabs, zombies, a lot of alien violence against humans and vice versa... and all this in the scenery of periodic horror and a per...

Re: Human Superiority (again)

I agree with Cthulhu. The acceleration of the main combatants is not limited by the capabilities of their compensators, but by the power of the engines and the gradient of energy consumption by these engines. Jim wrote somewhere that 90 percent of the ship's energy consumption goes to the engines. B...

If neither side wants to change its beliefs or does not want to participate in the discussion, the discussion is meaningless.

If it's plastic, then it burns, lol ... Firefighters' clothing is now made from several grades of reinforced syntheplastic - and it does NOT burn. Fundamentally. Together with the lining, it dissipates heat very effectively and protects the person wearing this uniform from it. There a MANY sorts if ...

Re: Page 214: Ready for boarding action!

The law of conservation of momentum for beauty appears to have been invented. Technically, even a laser has a recoil, but it is so small that it can be neglected. For beam weapons, it will be larger - because particles, unlike photons, have mass. Plasma weapons will have even more, because there are...

Re: Page 214: Ready for boarding action!

Ehem... E=mC^2 is the full energy equivalent of a mass. KE formula is simple (mv^2)/2. Impulse formula is J=Δv*m. Yes, we actually need an impulse formula, I was just too sleepy when I wrote the last post. Railgun dosent have any kind of detonation of the rails or detonation of plasma involved, it ...
