Re: Page 98
I think there is one fundamental issue with this. Why bother putting them on a planet for them to evolve on for a couple thousand year, or even the memory of it? I don't think that's really such a fundamental problem. From a Loroi perspective based on what little information they've had a chance to...

Re: Page 98
@Solemn Loroi don't have copper blood. Loroi blood is blue, based on the same transport mechanism (most likely an exotic form of hemocyanin) hemocyanin Now, technically, I guess you could argue that hemocyanin isn't blood, it's hemolymph. But you can't argue that it's not copper-based. There are re...

*snip* I was mostly referring to eliminating undesireable skin and oral flora, but, sure, you got me fair and square. Eh ... while the Loroi almost certainly have tweaks to make things simpler/easier for them ... they're bound to realize that non-engineered species are going have greater inherent h...

Wait a sec, has he bathed in this time? ... oh dear lord he must smell something awful. Eh. Human sweat and human skin waste are actually in and of themselves very nearly odorless; it is only after various natural skin wastes are metabolized by your skin flora that you get what we would normally id...

And I really really hope Loroi can eat chocolate. That might depend on whether the Earth of the year 2160 even has chocolate anymore . Should such predictions come to pass, then no doubt civilization as we know it will end, and only those nations that have no cultural ties to chocolate will survive...

Wouldn't a large aperture for hair in the helmet be a huge point of vulnerability in hand-to-hand combat? "Insert axe here?" I don't think a medieval-style melee helmet would have such an aperture or need one. A typical medieval pot-helm with a lobsterback is no barrier to having long hair (and Ear...

in the royal navy if the ship is entering a potential combat zone then all personal go to combat stations with all the gear they need, even if there's no real point, bridge crew will put on easily ID'd uniforms and fireproof stuff too, i guess the Tempest has entered a zone where fighting is expect...

Sig Detect: Is it limited to intelligent, thinking things or all living creatures? If all, then how does one (in this case) define living? For example, if i grow/create an AI, will a Loroi detect it? The signature is created by minds, not necessarily intelligent ones. The more complex the mind, the...

Alex is the narrator, and Alex's narrator voice sounds older and a bit contemptuous of his younger self.Durabys wrote:Do not kill off Alex.

Looks like Reed's a new face. I'm wondering if she's a Teidar, or if Loroi combat armor is actually standardized for all castes so Soroin and Teidar and so on could be expected to look the same. Aren't Teidar expected to avoid speech or something? Oh. I just didn´t post an url because i don´t know i...

No love for Beryl? Re: Dark Matter == Anti-gravity == Anti-matter gravity?
It seems to me that physicists are much more interested in inventing preposterous new theories to explain this result than in maybe considering that this result might instead mean that there's something in the current theories that we don't understand that well, or (gasp) might have wrong. The prin...

Re: Dark Matter == Anti-gravity == Anti-matter gravity?
As with many things, Wikipedia is my only source of knowledge on this subject.
Apparently CERN has an experiment set up to see how antimatter and gravity interact, but the first couple of pages of a Google search don't show any actual conclusions for "CERN AEGIS," just experiment outlines and such.
