Re: What was recovered from the wreck of the Bellarmine

@Fotiadis_110 So would they let him bathe at least? Humans release their pheromones in their sweat glands, and even if the ship is slightly cooler then he was expecting, he is still going to put up a sweat. It won't be as bad probably. Remember that the crews are probably very massively desinfected...

Re: sci-fi creative writting tips?

@fredgiblet: How about firing pellets in volleys, like a musket? It would be more difficult to dodge them all. Even more so in multi-ship battles if you have the unfortunate privilege of being the primary target. Volleys like a musket? Musket volleys are fired by a bunch of different people, so you...

Re: What was recovered from the wreck of the Bellarmine

Having never actually read the whole of the lord of the rings (I get about half way and find I've forgotten what happened 3-4 pages ago) I put it down very quickly after only the first few pages, and this is someone who at the time had already read The Hobbit at age twelve IMO The Hobbit is signifi...

Re: What was recovered from the wreck of the Bellarmine

We don't know yet. My expectation is that they got a good collection of stuff but that it won't really play a part in the story. I doubt there are any physical books on the Bellarmine. Sure no physical books. But I'd say that something lke a kindle could be easily on board. Of course it might take ...

Re: sci-fi creative writting tips?

Yeah ... how soft/hard you want your universe will be is a major factor on evaluating the viability of various systems. If you're going with a harder universe, mass drivers, barring specific tech constraints, are likely to be largely ineffective, and require extremely short ranges to be viable. Let...

daelyte: true to some degree, but it's a mental thing, a mindset, killer instinct to see an opening and not hold back just go in all guns blazing so to speak....and if you do not see an opening just bull your way through, it's ugly, you will probably get hurt but you just might 'survive'. Keep in m...

Re: Loroi abilities, and Loroi Judo

On the karate vs sword wielder. Let's be very honest here. If you only know karate and the other person has a sword and at least known which side is the pointy bit, you are in a giant load of trouble and it's far better to run. For this reason you rarely see a MA develop with a weapon against unarme...

I imagine you COULD if fore-warned, like how fireblade can trap a bubble of air around her in open space, but a generic permanent shield would need to be transparent to air to ensure you can hear what is going on outside of it, if you harden it then you cannot hear, but it has a good chance to bloc...

well the federation have a lots of warship. but you moslty see "exploration" and "science" ship in the show. How else would you be able to keep your hold on such a vast empire... surely not with thankful wishing. They are just shy to call them warship. But i consider that "Tactical cruiser" and "es...

Don't be ridiculous, the Federation doesn't have warships, just engineers ;) . Also, making Star Trek aliens fight those strikes me as mean (consider: 'carpet bombing' an enemy starship with photon torpedoes). Edit: Though, thinking about it, the Klingons might be impressed: "Your great-great-great...
