I do wonder if a certain Red head is going to show up, as a child or adult ?
This was my first thought - it's Jardin intruding on Fireblade's memories again - but that usually means it's not the case.

Re: page 178: Beryl's time of her life

No, not Alex - the one embarrassing admirals in war games and somehow sent to damage control instead of being in the cockpit of the Bellarmine with the leadership might overstep his bounds from time to time? Say it isn't so!

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

I wonder if Alex's and Fireblade's nightmares will begin to intertwine, since they share the same theme. Doubt it (would be very interesting, especially if the dreams interact), but it will be also be interesting if Alex starts getting flashes of unusual detail during Loroi mental conversations inv...

Re: Outsider 181: Foot-in-Mouth Disease

"Insensitive Jerk" over something he has no way of knowing about. Its like one expects him to be a mind reader. You can unintentionally be an insensitive jerk - intentions do not undo hurt from actions or words. Alex was told that it is final war, most of it has been in Loroi territory, plus it was...

Re: Outsider 181: Foot-in-Mouth Disease

Alex does try to provoke responses, but this time he certainly crossed the line from 'trying to get response' to 'insensitive jerk'.

I am happy to see he is mature enough to regret his blunder.

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

Think it's more Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks' character in Saving Private Ryan ) - another wave of the young fed to war. Do Loroi dream the fantastic and nonsensical way humans do? Because if there's a two-way always-on connection, Fireblade may not be ready for the LSD trip of human dreams. Lot o...

Re: page 180: Nightsky

If that was the case, surely Alex wouldn't have been aware of Fireblade before waking up in the infirmary, as she hadn't tuned him to radio One-Eye by then. I'm certain Fireblade was mining for information while Jardin was still unconscious - the parallels between page 18 and 28 couldn't be any str...

Re: page 180: Nightsky

It would be amusing if humans were not just psi-deaf, but rather they were the psi equivalent of a radio receiver tuned to the wrong frequency range. And trying to forcibly probe one just "tunes" them into being able to hear the wavelength of the person doing the probing from there on out....whethe...

Re: page 180: Nightsky

Basicly, I think Jardin is trying this. This allows him to get inforation out of the blue space babes without them noticing, and poke the bear a bit without looking like he is. I am also guessing from the one detail about the scar on her eye, that maybe some of our fan theories of Fireblade might h...

Re: page 180: Nightsky

If Fireblade's memory is from the capital and not her homeworld, is Beryl snitching? Or is Jardin stealing information somehow?

Re: page 180: Nightsky

I hope the connection is one-way, receive only just for the novelty of it.
But pretty certain they know that Jardin's got some mindlink to Fireblade and I can't wait to see how that plays out. Fireblade's been background way too long.

It's possible she's comfortable in her own mind, as well - someone whose solitude does not bring loneliness with it. Get that impression from the comfy/relaxed position + peaceful city overlook.

Re: 179: No finer place for sure, downtown

Kneejerk reaction: I'd like to know what Fireblade's first response was.
Thinking about it: her superior officer is there, probably wasn't too bad (if anything at all).

Re: page 178: Beryl's time of her life

So, about five minutes ago Jardin was advised that speech was challenge or warning to the unsheathed. Now he's grabbing fire or a knife blade  in conversational terms. Brilliant! Can't wait to see how this turns out- my wild guesses in descending order of probability: no cure for stupid / pain ...

Re: 177: What do you miss?

It'd be like if a human joined a group that wasn't allowed to use morse code. Not really a problem until they come across some weirdo that can only speak in morse code. Maybe, but would still be neat to hear something from Fireblade. Interested to find out if she can 'feel' his presence the way he ...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

Let's just say... east of Europe, west of China, north of Persia and south of penguins :) . I'll allow "south of penguins" if you can prove that you are from before the 19th century and therefore meant the birds that are called, nowadays, "auks". The animals called "penguins" remain in the southern...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

How much to reveal? How much to withhold? because it's not just the Loroi, got the spy in the tablet.

In Jardin's spacesuit, I'd be very sad I couldn't pass these sort of decisions on as "That's way above my paygrade."

Re: 174-175: Got milk?

Perhaps the best way to describe a human-like intellect is "Would you, as a european or american, feel comfortable cutting this being up and eating it" There are plenty of Europeans and Americans who aren't comfortable cutting up and eating any animal, so I don't think that definition works. :D I l...
