Re: Loroi Ship Design
So you think a computer would do better in vegas? :?: Yes, which is why no one will allow you to bring one in with you. I haven't exactly kept up on casino policies given that I don't like playing stacked games that can lose me a lot of money in a hurry..... But this begs me to ask, what about the ...

Re: The Current State of Human Technology
Nah, wasn't thinking of unmanned ships. I assume the Loroi have at least some conventional sensors so those would stand out like a sore thumb to those even if they were invisible to farseers. Mainly sticking to planetary combat applications. I'm thinking of stuff that is smaller and cheaper, easier ...

Re: The Current State of Human Technology
No direct mental/tactile TK feedback eh? That's a pretty big hole to exploit once one has learned of it. Though signature detection has probably done the Loroi fine up until now... Does signature detection work on non-organic entities? So I take it something like a cloud of particles or gas attack c...

Re: The Current State of Human Technology
You didn't see a price because you probably can't buy it. Realistically it's not going to be adopted for regular combat as the weight issue and firepower degradation will be too severe. It might find it's way into units that spend most of their time in CQB, but even then the lack of firepower is si...

Re: The Current State of Human Technology
Interesting. Though that begs me to ask: how expensive are these? (Too expensive for mass issue to soldiers? 1-2 per team/squad/platoon/company?) I did go to the website for the manufacturer; but didn't see a price quote. And, if this thing breaks in the field...how the heck am I going to fix it? Al...

Re: Chapter 2 cover
Oh Lord... Say, Arioch, how would Loroi react if they did fond some crewmembers elf p0rn? I would foresee Alex being asked some embarrassing questions by Beryl about human mating customs....again. He should be glad it was just the elf porn and not something worse, like say, an archive of 4cha...

Re: Stillstorm laughed...
we just do not know enough about the bug side to know what tik-27 is thinking and what is logical for him. Thus my comment about being wary of reader omniscience causing bias for or against the usefulness of the information gained from communication. How much do we actually know, and how much are w...

Re: Stillstorm laughed...
And what information did he gain from that conversation? None. He did all the talking. The only one that got information out of this conversation were the Loroi. They found out that a Umiak fleet is bypassing Azimol and that the Umiak now have the tech to prevent farseer detection. What information...

Re: Stillstorm laughed...
That's precisely my point. Kliktiks actions make sense ONLY if he's telling the truth about the Umiak offensive. I have to disagree. From observation I would say that the usual Loroi tactic is not to stand ground and slug it out, more likely it is a tendency to strike and withdraw before taking cas...

Re: Stillstorm laughed...
Disinformation. She has no reason to trust anything Kikitik has to say. The best lies are the ones that mix in a little truth as well. Makes them much easier to swallow. It's also common knowledge that the Umiak will lie, cheat, steal, refuse to flush the toilet, take the last beer in the fridge an...

True. Hard to infer tone/attitude from text alone, especially after it's been translated by a machine from the native form.
How would one click/chitter arrogantly anyways?

Re: Page 88
I'm starting to think the bug likes messing with the mind of their opponent. WE WAIT FOR AN ANSWER THERE IS NO HURRY WAITING COSTS US NOTHING WE CAN WAIT... Magnificent Bastard traits possibly? Then again, it is good sense keep your opponent guessing as to your true motive no matter your ethical sla...

Re: Page 87
The exchange between leaders reminds me of something I read in a book once upon a time:
Sméagol: Give us that, Déagol, my love.
Déagol: Why, Sméagol?
Sméagol: Because it's my birthday, my love, and I wants it.
