Just a small comment here - perhaps it should be Terran space? Just referring to it as "colonial space" doesn't sound right in my ears... colonial? Colony of what?Mr.Tucker wrote:..Thank you, and welcome to colonial space!

Re: Besieging A Pipolsid Bunker City
At 5 miles (8km) under water, assuming an Earth-equivalent planet, the pressure is going to be ~800bar (that's over 11600 psi). I think that alone makes any meaningful fighting or bunker breaching operations impossible, even if the attackers can bring down marines in submersibles in sufficient numbe...

Re: The Most Powerful Known Race In The Local Bubble.
When the Loroi and Umiak bomb each other and their respective allies back to the stone age, I think it will be the Nissek who will become the dominant power in the Local Bubble. They appear to have a strong economy, enough territory, quite powerful navy and are at present not directly involved in th...

Re: Page 156: Dun... dun... DUUUUUUN
Interesting turn of events, that's for sure. And, honestly, an angry Beryl kind of scares me more than an angry Fireblade, Tempo or any other soldier or officer. Dunno why... I'm with Boldi and Zorg regarding how to act in this situation. Saying that it's his pad would not work since Beryl can read ...

Re: What does YOUR Name Mean?
Yup, Vlad =/= Vladimir (a tip: if one is on very good terms with a Vladimir, one may be permitted to call him Volodya). ..or Vova for very close friends or among children. Indeed, in Russian almost every given name has at least one, often numerous "shortened" or "friendly" forms, for example, Natal...

Some other points: 1) Soooo...the Historians can use a form of communication that is technological and non-radiative... How much are ya' willin' to bet it's superluminal as well? I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was superluminal and undetectable by "industry standards" of the other nations. Cou...

Re: Page 155: But hang on...
Did the Historian admit to having infiltrated the Bellarmine's data banks before it was shot to smithereens, or did the Historian mean that it was in the data banks "recovered from" the Bellarmine? Little quibble, but the first wording is a touch ambiguous while the 2nd leaves no doubt that the His...

Re: What does YOUR Name Mean?
Seeing that this is your first post, welcome to the forum, Swindle. That is quite an impressive history and indeed something to be proud of, if you can trace your ancestry all the way back to the Middle Ages. I can't trace mine beyond my great grandparents and it's nothing too glamorous, they were w...

Re: Page 154: Run attachment? Y/N
To sum up what we know so far, it appears that the Historian AI/VI, while in standby mode inside it's bucket (it's obviously not registering on the shuttle's displays since everything's supposed to be offline to reduce emissions), is aware that Alex is alone in the cargo bay and has obtained a table...

Interesting. I would have expected Neridi to serve aboard Loroi warships, since they already serve on the stations and as couriers.Arioch wrote:Yes, most of the ships have Golim crewmembers. They are technically civilian contractors.
And yes, this means Tempest has Golim aboard.

Re: Page 151 Discussion: "We will wait, Outsider"
And Beryl's words that the suit requires some calibration? We'll just have to see how much of this is true and how much of this is Beryl's wishful thinking.... Knowing, that a Loroi's body temperature is around 20-ish degrees Celsius, and the suit is likely set by default to regulate it's internal ...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)
I tend to think it's not a tablet or pda, it looks too small and fat for that. My guess would be something that can be opened judging by the rubber grips, something of use in an emergency situation... pocket size first aid kit, geiger counter, air analyzer or something along those lines...

Noticed it on Talon's flight suit first and this one also seems to have it - what are the two black things on the sides Alex's lower jaw in the third drawing? Something like a Laryngophone?

Re: Writing Prompts
I agree completely, and the mid- and long term benefits and implications are clear and logical, it's just that the initial reaction from the brass would likely be outrage  I also see Alex's proposal as a dick move of sorts, that the promise of easy sexy time could make crews force their captain...

Thank you very much, Dragoon! I can already see the looks on both the Loroi and Terran brass' faces when Alex comes forward with his "proposal" and the resulting "benefits" for both species/nations  And, by the way, "It is but not arbitrarily, a valid reason must be given and those usually invo...

Re: Writing Prompts
But Beacons seems to have run into a collective writers block. I'm guessing it's because the canon story progressed differently that people speculated in Beacons. IIRC, that has happened before and was handled pretty well. I as a reader would be perfectly fine it the Beacons story would continue al...
