Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Societally speaking up until recently it was in society's best interests to ensure as many births as possible while also having a large number of farmhands. High infant mortality, frequent disease outbreaks, frequent wars and famines; you name it and it's a reason to ensure that as many people proc...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Early christians weren't really opposed to pleasure, they were opposed to masturbation, which seems to be pretty common across a large number of religions and cultures, the common idea seeming to be that chronic masturbators become dull, lethargic and/or weird.

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Not to mention that it deprives pressure waves from explosive weapons of a medium to pass through! Might it not be preferable to have shockwaves dissipate through internal air pockets rather than through more structurally and technically important spaceship infrastructure? Air shockwaves still carr...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Would that work the same way with beamed weapons? Beam weapons seem to be more focused on putting holes in ships, possibly in search of critical infrastructure, so focusing the armor on critical areas might be useful then, and you'll just have to expect the rest of the ship to get perforated.

You "magma is sentient and can build channels" conspiracy theorists can think what you want,
but I'm gonna stick with the science and say that this is clearly the work of aliens.

You could try having a look at his Patreon ... ;) Last post there is from 1 December. As I said earlier, I would have no problem to pay 100$ - 200$ for a five year/lifetime access. But entering some continuous payment is just not up my alley ;) $100-$200 is actually ridiculously low compared to wha...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Your vectors have to be predicable too some degree if you are also a warship trying to target and hit the other ship. Some degree, maybe, you may know that a warship has to pursue you or head towards what you suppose their objective is, however with a 360 degree battlespace that still leaves a giga...

What if the slug were stealth? I don't see why not.
I think slugs are already as stealthy as they can get.
And even if you could make them even less detectable, as long as the enemy knows you're firing slugs they can adjust accordingly by not having predicable vectors.

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

whereas with railguns all you need to do is to lead the target, and the slugs may even ignore any shields. As Krulle has already pointed out, you can no longer lead a target when it can perform several evasion maneuvers through the projectiles time of flight - at this point it's not leading, it's g...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

Were gas attacks used on civilian targets in WW1, though? They mostly seemed to be used on military targets, and that only seems to have been initially viable because enemy soldiers were holed up in trenches. In some ways, gas seems more "humane" as a weapon than heavy artillery and machine-gun fire...

Sounds like it would be more useful for Umiak than Loroi, as Loroi still have to make a pretty substantial investment into their manpower.

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

The concept of civilians will always complicate warfare. Civilians produce resources the enemy war machine need including recruits to become new soldiers. Civilians paricipate actively in occupation of counquerd land by moving in as settlers to displace the local population. Thease occupying civili...

I didn't start watching Game of Thrones until 2016, so no, there's not much GoT influence in Outsider.
Ahah, now we know why Martin hasn't been able to finish the series, yet.

The documents are held in a swiss bank box and will be released when presented with proof of Arioch's demise. So if you want to read them early, there's a way to do it. But there's also a price to be paid for such hastiness.

Watches don't last all night, and Alex was sleeping for quite some time before he saw the bright light.
Technically he was asleep for two panels before the dream changed. But yeah, I'd assume some time has passed. Unless Fireblad fell asleep on watch.
