Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

I was just kind of wondering if he will have to exist on the Loroi equivalent of water and crackers with bland meat paste on them, or if the Loroi will be giving him vitamin/nutrient shots to keep him alive. Either that, or the only thing he can keep down is the Loroi equivalent of 30 year old scot...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

I dunno, I would guess that if the war in Europe was not going so well then they would have let Japan stew under blockade, and would have used the two bombs they did have in August against the Germans. After those two, I have heard that the bomb plants could produce more at a rate of between one a w...

Just remember that Tiger I weight near twice as much when comparing armor and gun.

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

It also makes you an easy target, if done in any sort of threat situation. Is practical personal flight something that can be done technologically by the Loroi? Or is it a case of artificial gravity tech not being able to be made small enough, while any sort of reaction thruster either requires too ...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

the big problems here really is seriously different culture, internationalism(or rather the lack of such), ease of international travel, and history, cause i can promise you, america is NOT innocent in the reasons for the war on terror, there is a reason why america is targeted by jihadists and not...

I would assume they are vacuum suits that work by way of mechanical, rather than pneumatic, counter-pressure.

Here's a link to a similar, though much less advanced, technology : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_activity_suit

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs

Or as in the case of the Romans, win against foes with superior skills and weapons by virtue of vastly superior tactics and strategy. Technology isn't everything. The Romans were probably only down one tech generation at most. Humanity in this story is down 2 or 3. And it is a naval war, rather tha...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

Most of the crew hasn't even seen him, let alone interacted with him enough to form an opinion. Don't forget there were also a number of Loroi on salvage duty at the Bellarmine . They've encountered, and recovered, 57 other bodies so I'm thinking the way humans look is quite known to the warriors o...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread

My point is there is still plenty of space to house people, the problems would be in supplying them with everything. More people would mean; more cars on the roads witch would equate to more congestion, more need for hospitals, schools, food, water, the list would go on. Easy access to space, highe...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

It seems most of the Loroli have mixed reactions to Alex, ranging from curious glances to death glares. Overall, how do the crew view him, and their opinion of their "first Human Ambassador." Most of the crew hasn't even seen him, let alone interacted with him enough to form an opinion. I'd suspect...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread

Terran mass drivers have a muzzle velocity of 400 km/s (.133% of light speed) according to the shipboard weapons page on the Insider. Maximum direct fire combat ranges for Umiak weapons top out at about 250,000 km. Sniping from beyond that distance means about 10.5 minutes of flight time, launch to ...

Re: Miscellaneous Terran question-and-answer thread

Well another important question is what humanity industrial capacity ? In other words if we put our backs in it how many ships can we pop out a year? Well, in WWII all combatants combined during the war produced the following dedicated warships: Carriers : 36 (Does not include converted merchant sh...

Re: Concept Fanart of Future Terran Ship Designs

I don't know if this had any influence on Outsider, but here in the US we have two sea-going services, the Navy, and the Coast Guard, each of which has its own painting conventions. The Navy is largely an open ocean (sometimes called the 'blue water' navy) force, concentrating on fighting (naval dom...

Re: WIP Discussion (Part 1!)

Yeah, maybe the vestibules have that sort of facility in them, though it looks like they lose a lot more in ceiling than they gain in lower floor, so they're shorter spaces. As to the sleeping arrangements, it is a military transport, and not made for overmuch comfort probably. I remember my father ...

How long can Loroi go without sleep, or using the facilites?

Re: Loroi Sexuality continued (no politics this time)

Actually, would the Lotai feeling they get be considered a sign of rejection should a Loroi male do it to a female Loroi? That's an interesting question, how do the Loroi react to those amongst their society (alien and Loroi) who possess Lotai? I predict "Burn the witch!". Lotai among Loroi can be ...

Re: Miscellaneous Loroi question-and-answer thread

I was researching Hadrian's Wall http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hadrian%27s_Wall todays and was wondering what the Loroi would think of Human architecture, both military and civilian. What kind of great works of architecture have the Loroi create on their three sister worlds? Thinking about Loroi and...

Re: Outsider Ground War

I would imagine that Loroi who can achieve Lotai are more or less automatically assigned to sniper school, in the absence of even rarer abilities.

What I think Loroi would be not used to dealing would not be 'invisible' individual/small groups of snipers, but 'invisible' large formations of troops.

I think they are considered valid targets, if they are considered at all. Both the Loroi and the Umiak have 'wiped' systems, I think. Check the Insider on the course of the war.
